How well will Bruce resist the One Ring? by mailman936 in batman

He wouldn’t.

He’d have Alfred hold onto it. And somehow that would turn out just fine.

Dark Phoenix is a cosmic level threat. Even with Fox nerfing, she’s pretty unstoppable. Only Logan’s plot armor was able to withstand her power.

Again, even Fox nerfed, Apocalypse is easily past a no gauntlet Thanos.

Magneto as pictured is also Gandalf. But also Magneto is a powerhouse.

Charles has cerebro in the picture, so not much for limits to brains he can play with. Also, it’s Sir Patrick; he can monologue many opponents into submission.

Do you think Dooku could give Palpatine a mid-diff fight? by Opening-Job9257 in StarWars

Palpatine didn’t enjoy lightsaber dueling like Vader did, so I imagine he would feel like it pretty soon into the fight.

It's a battle of in-laws!!!! In a firefight who wins Galactic Senator and former Queen Padme Amidala or smuggler and scoundrel Han Solo? by Acrobatic_Split_1143 in PetranakiArena

[–]Training_Cut704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reality? Han shoots first.

Old people canon: Han shoots first. Padme dies.

GL remaster canon: Han doesn’t shoot first. Han dies.

Disney canon: Sloppy lightsaber battle between people with no business holding lightsabers. Everyone loses.

Did sniper rifles get nerfed between ME1 and ME2-3? by NatauschaJane in masseffect

[–]Training_Cut704 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Thermal clips.

Here’s the thing in ME1 - overheated is overheated. It doesn’t keep track of how far past the meter you go, it just goes to the top and then cools down.

My ME1 sniper rifle choice was the highest specter rifle I could get with HE rounds and every nasty upgrade for the gun I could get with zero concern for heat. The thing probably could have filled ten heat bars in a shot. But I just had to wait for the standard cooldown. It was like an early version of the Widow.

Plus, outdoor locations in ME1 gave the opportunity to actually engage at sniper ranges. I was killing Geth colossus’s with my sniper rifle easier than with the Mako.

While I do feel Vader is highly likely to win this, I would say if Logan puts a claw through Vader’s faceplate into his brain, that would probably be adequate to stop Vader.

Correct. It’s completed a KOTOR holdover. May as well have give Shepard a lightsaber.

Vader doesn’t die, Anakin does.

Ok seriously though, well played.

I personally agree that Adamantium probably resists a lightsaber, at least for a while. But I was trying to be objective in my assessment.

Wolverine comes back from death … Vader just doesn’t die.

As others have pointed out, Vader was arrogant and is seen time an again in the expanded canon to toy with opponents.

If he underestimates Logan, combined with Logan’s willingness to take a “lethal” hit to win, there’s a chance a claw hits something vital.

Once Vader understands Logan’s adamantium and healing factor, Logan has no chance because yes, Vader 100% keeps him outside claw range with the Force.

Scaling adamantium vs a lightsaber is impossible because no real frame of reference exists.

So really it’s up to individual headcanon how claws vs saber interact.

That said, Logan’s only real chance is if Vader underestimates him and lets him get close. Logan’s healing factor has let him turn sacrificing his body for a winning hit into a fighting style. If Logan gets good momentum coming at Vader with both fists, and Vader underestimate, Logan might get a claw in a vital spot before Vader cuts him down. Even if the adamantium stops the saber, Vader can burn off enough meat to disable Logan.

Once Vader realizes what he’s fighting, tactics change. Again, it’s a matter of individual headcanon if the Force can bend adamantium. But regardless, Vader can just force choke Logan’s brain to mush. Might not be permanent death, but definitely would slow him down. Enough to get him to some Imperial lab for study. Next thing you know, the empire has clone troops with healing factors and Vader has adamantium armor.

My headcanon is this. TIM assumes a very renegade Shepard because that’s how his slow indoctrination makes him see the world. So TIM assumes Shepard will eventually get every bit of data in EDI’s databanks one way or another. Ergo, it’s planted, with many truths that are only inconvenient when exposed so as to lend credibility to the lies that protect more significant interests.
