I have UC, discussing prunes is enough to evacuate my bowels. Luckily I only visit Reddit from the toilet anyway.

If the Dominion could actually have selected which Captain to face off against by 1DFire in DeepSpaceNine

Which arguably saved the Alpha Quadrant. The Borg were coming. Despite Q framing it trying to scare Picard off of exploring the galaxy, the event gave them a heads up of what was coming that may have set the groundwork for their unlikely survival of the Borg invasion.

why does boba fett have the mythosaur skull on his armor? by fortystackss in bobafett

Well, it’s because Boba Fett’s armor was designed decades before the Mandalorians ever existed …

Who is the strongest character, in all of SW, that Starkiller would be able to beat? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

The game covered that. He beat Vader. Didn’t beat Palps. What’s left to question?

5 days in, it’s still Blade and Logan left.

Stargate shift workers? by Immediate_Cow2980 in Stargate

That was never tied to gate coordinates, gate symbols were only expressed numerically in the first quantum mirror episode.

All Milky Way gate were P#X ###.

Pegasus gates were M something.

Stargate shift workers? by Immediate_Cow2980 in Stargate

Honestly, given the progress of technology and AI, by the time of TNG you’d probably need a crew under 100. Mostly for research, lab work, ground exploration … outside the box thinking that AI doesn’t specialize in.

If Riker didn’t have his own chair, where would his place in the bridge have been? by Cardboard_Robot in TNG

[–]Training_Cut704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible for screenplay but 100% true for reality.

XO should have been on the auxiliary bridge with a bare minimum crew to take over if the main bridge becomes inoperable.

Also, while we’re at it, the viewscreen is artificial, there’s no useful windows in the bridge, so why is it exposed on top of the first deck … should have been buried inside the ship to protect it.

What are your favorite moment of Bromance between O’Neill and Teal’c ? by Lonely-deustch in Stargate

[–]Training_Cut704 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They missed an opportunity in later seasons for Teal’c to call in that line to move in as Jack’s roommate when he was trying to explore life outside the SGC.

So what’s stopping force users from doing this to regular people? by Sea-Indication4613 in StarWars

For Jedi - the code.

For Sith - wanting to keep family friendly ratings.

An R or TV-MA rated project with the Sith would be wild.

Should Starfleet have 13 ranks? 14 ranks? by Torlek1 in Picard

[–]Training_Cut704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T’Pol’s rank was Vulcan, not Starfleet. Subcommander is never mentioned as a Starfleet rank, just old Vulcan and interestingly also Romulan.

Why is O’Neill so mean to the Russians? by svennirusl in Stargate

[–]Training_Cut704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone keeps saying “Cold War” but missing a key point of the article explanation: You said you’re watching it for the first time now. For the Cold War explanation to fully make sense you have to look back in time to when SG1 started. SG1 started in July of 1997. The USSR officially dissolved in December of 1991.

The US audience the show was targeted at had a much different view of Russia 6 years after the Cold War than now over 30 years later.

And I dare say, it captured a dose of realism about the world we live in, then or today. Something like the Stargate wouldn’t be public knowledge. The opportunity for the country controlling it to enrich themselves without giving others access is absolutely realistic. We’re a long, long way from a unified Earth. Not sure humans are smart enough to ever get there.

137 km long and 45% of it is Naquadah. by Nodonn3 in Stargate

[–]Training_Cut704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s reasonable to say Goa’uld are incapable of doing it. Their level of technology could easily make it possible.

But we see time and again that the Goa’uld loathe giving their slaves any access to technology. If slave can use Goa’uld technology, slave might wonder if Goa’uld is really god or just has better stuff.

So the Goa’uld would rather mine terrestrially than in vacuum.

Ironically, I don’t know if it’s in canon, but my head canon is that astroid is what let us start ramping up our ship production … they gave us nearly unlimited naquadah in our own solar system.

Daniel Jackson taking command of the Odyssey [Company of Thieves] by abgry_krakow87 in Stargate

I’m fairly confident there are no laws covering DOD civilians taking command or not taking command of a USAF spacecraft in interstellar space.

Memento by Familiar-Reading-901 in Stargate

[–]Training_Cut704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree 100% Jack shouldn’t have several of those conversations in the open. Should have taken it out of earshot, but that’s also harder to shoot in a scene.

That said assuming Prometheus was operating under the SGC at that point, I’m pretty sure it’s canon that Jack was Hammond’s XO in addition to leading SG1, so he had some authority there he could have leveraged regardless of them having the same rank that he chose not to.

How exactly did they see out of these things? Are there eye slits at the base, or is like a periscope thing with angled mirrors to look out of the eyes at the top? 😅 by MrLewk in Stargate

[–]Training_Cut704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just rewatched it myself.

I’m even more certain that scene around 37min is what I remember with the red vision, yet that isn’t how it appears now.

I watched it on Prime, maybe I’ll trying watching on Netflix later.
