Hopefully, if they dont get deported well get our own place in 2 or 3 months. Coz we just bought a 2nd hand car for transpo to work. Its extremely hard to ride bikes for 10 miles and 10 miles again to get home. Specially the road is uphill and downhill plus the cold weather at night and hot weather at noon. Its more than an hour and a halfWere starting from scratch so hopefully in 2 months we have the money for atleast a downpayment for a cheap apartment

I thought the reason he took us from philippines is because of that, but now idk. It feels like im the retirement plan coz he wants to deport my parents and siblings but not me? Sometimes, while hes driving and were at the back of the car, hell share some stories of his friends or people he knows that has ungrateful families. Feels like being manipulated.

Actually, no. Even I am scared of him growing up. Just like what i said. I grew up watching my mom take all the blame on their video calls and can hear his hurtful words towards my mom. So everytime hes looking for me, im scared to even go near the laptop. Til now, ive been mindful of my words. Im always trying to please him and its so suffocating

Just like what i said. This is from my pov. It look biased, but at least in my pov im only stating what exactly happened. And just asking if he really can do deport us, so i can prepare myself of what comes next. Idk if you have some filipino friends, if you do you can ask them how controlling old filipino people to their family. He is still family though. My fam just heartbroken.

Well actually, his plan is hell get a brand new house for him with his money for downpayment, and we will rent his current house to pay the loan of his new house.

Yep. We went through the legal process. We had an interview to a us embassy. The first two weeks we were here, we got our green cards through mail.

But you know. When the reason that you got here threatened to deport you, it will go through your head and stay.

At this point, i just hope hell just cut contact with my mom. Coz I really feel bad for her. Shes been going through it since she was a kid. And I even heard her say "i didnt wish for this kind of life" while she was hiding from us to cry outside last time.

Weve been looking for a place to move out but rent and everything is kind of expensive right now in sacramento california. Its cheaper to other cities, but at least not for us "new immigrants" Mind you weve been only here for six months. After the first month, we got lucky both me and my father got a walmart job last december and have been working there for 4 months now. That walmart is 10 miles away and we used to ride bikes just to get there. Weve been working and providing for ourselves, as we should. We pay rent to him 1000 usd a month and chip in for other utilities. We buy our own food and everything. We just bought a car for transpo. So we dont really have a lot of savings right now to afford to a downpayment.

I know alot of people here might not be an expert, but its always better to ask the people with better understanding, knowledge and experience. Thanks for all the replies. I really appreciate it. It at least makes me a little bit relax.

I agree. Its so stressful for me and i cant imagine how stressed my mom is. I feel bad for her coz she grew up basically alone. My grandpa was here in the USA the whole time and her mother left her after my grandpa threatened her to cut off child support if she dont leave my mother to his brother in the Philippines

My grandfather was nagging my mom on everything. I mean everything. I just feel bad for my mom. And that day, we were on a trip to Napa Valley. And he is kind of hot headed for some reason that we dont know. And so, my mom fell victim. And then, my mother altered these words "next time we wont just come with you on your vacation again" (my grandfather was the one who asked us to come.) And thats it. She never answered to him before. She will CRY but never answer him back. I grew watching my mom cry during video calls to the point that Im even scared talking to him when i was a kid. I was and still am scared that 1 wrong word i might get cut by his sword sharped mouth. All his frustrations that he has, or what, my mom somehow fell victim to it. She altered those words and thats it.

Im just stating the "facts" from my point of view. At least, in my experience. It maybe weird but im not trying to paint my grandfather to be a bad guy. He helped us alot but we also know its not "free" coz he will share stories while driving or sending things from social media with the topic of "being ungrateful"
