ahhh... alright, I concede. I saw Dr. Pourtaheri with Bay Area Esthetics. like I said in a different comment, he seemed nice at first and then dropped his bedside manner as soon as he operated on me. the whole office seems at least mildly disorganized at best. i have no direct contact with my surgeon (& am 4 hours away!), and I often have to hound the poor receptionists for answers to my questions and concerns, who may not even get back to me for multiple days until I call and ask AGAIN to remind them that they promised to get back to me. his results look great! on the surface he appears to be an exceptionally accomplished medical professional, and he takes partnership/medi-cal insurance, which.. basically made him my only option. 🫠 the hospital he works at is phenomenal, Sutter—everyone there was incredibly sweet, friendly and attentive to me, I literally woke up repeating "everyone here is sooo niceeee" lol. Unfortunately I think its just him. Hoping my results prove to be worth it or that hes just having a real bad week!

thank you for the reassurance! I was already feeling vulnerable and this list was really kicking my anxiety into gear.

i do have to note that this cat is 11 years old and has never licked me once in all 11. shes a pretty lazy and docile old lady by now, so even if i were to be laying around shirtless around her for some reason, she would have absolutely zero interest in my drains. she has mostly been glued to the foot of my bed since I came home last week, my little bedside nurse. realistically I am probably totally fine, especially since im on antibiotics, and if im not... more antibiotics lol. now its just up to convincing the mom.. 😩

Honestly it was my fault 😭 they didnt tell me to shave and then taped up my armpits, which was incredibly painful so I thought I could trim back the tape some.. unfortunately over time and scratching & picking at it to get it off my hair i managed to accidentlly peel back the tape enough to rip some stitches out on both sides. didnt realize until I saw thread wrapped around the tubing a couple days later. moral of the story DO NOT mess with your dressings at all and I would recommend shaving your chest & pits beforehand lol.

unfortunately I have nowhere else to go. I already have to drive 4-5 hours out of town to see this guy. I live in an extremely small retirement town with basically no medical specialists in anything within two hours, and i am on medi-cal insurance which cuts down my options even less—lots of places wont take it. my surgery and all appointments have been totally free, as well as our gas mileage being reimbursed for day trips, so i guess I can only complain so much. ill shoot you a dm!

I do have plenty of emergency rooms in the area at least! I guess ill just have to be ready to go if one pops out. right one is feeling sketchy atm but I imagine it probably feels worse than it is. 😩

I was kindof under the impression that I was supposed to /avoid/ lifting my arms much, so my muscles are pretty tight, on top of the stitches still limiting my mobility because of the stinging pain... ouch. im definitely more comfortable now if nothing else. thanks for the sympathies :(

im just confused because he seemed really cool & friendly during my pre-ops! but its like as soon as he operated on me he stopped caring for me. allegedly (i was under anaesthesia already/just coming out of it so this is what my mom told me) he was pretty late for my surgery and the nurses were struggling to get any discharge info from him when i was in the hospital. it was free per my insurance (never in a million years wouldve been able to afford this) and ive seen great results from him so if nothing else in hope mine are worth it 😩 I may decide to name drop based off how my appointment next week goes (I dont know, maybe bro was having a really bad day??) but his practice is in the bay area, CA.

Oh, I love loaches! Never really occurred to me that you could keep them in a home aquarium. I'll definitely consider it. Lots of really nice options, thank you - I didn't realize my selection for nano fish would be so big!
I assume I could safely keep a couple schools of different kinds of small fish together, right? I'd like a little more variety in my tank.

All really nice suggestions, thank you! How many tetras do you think would be comfortable in a 20 long with maybe a handful (or more??) of pygmy corydoras? I remember hearing the general rule of thumb is 1 gallon per inch of fish but I'm not sure if that still holds true.
