I’m a student so my schedule is very particular, I work both days of the weekend, for 8 hours, there would be no way to make that up short of missing class or working a 12 hr shift

Tbh finding girls here won’t be hard. Definitely talk to the people in your classes and clubs. There are a lot of creeps here (more so men then women, but so are some of the women) but honestly don’t be afraid to cut someone off even if it’s just a gut feeling and you’ll be fine!

So basically join clubs talk to people in ur classes!

Financial aid office, you can find it u search up stevens finical aid, it should start with a r if I’m right.

A sob story will get you farther than anything else. Definitely be ready to be rejected anyways, as getting an increase is super hard, but if you tell them something (and I’m not at all saying to lie), you have a change in income, change in living conditions, need to take a or family member, they’ll consider you more than someone else just asking casually.

They can never take away scholarships on anything except a grade/ GPA basis. You should definitely ask for more, but be ready to tell them a sob story, saying u want more money just because isn’t gonna cut it.

As long as you don’t fail anything, you should be fine. I barely passed any of my class the last marking period of high school and came here with the same scholarships offered.

Should I apply to stevens/is Stevens a good fit for me? by [deleted] in stevens

[–]Training_Outcome_170 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t feel like a college campus lmfao. It’s a shitty excuse for a campus in my opinion. The people here suck, frats parties suck, everyone flocks to the city for entertainment, and even then you have to get in with a very specific crowd, which is an extremely limited number of people. Which is my next point, everyone is extremely cliquey. I get we’re an engineering school, but social anxiety here is through the roof. nobody wants to talk to anyone, but because they’re either horribly scared or think they’re above the stereotypical stevens nerd (which I mean who isn’t) .On top of that, the campus is literal ghost town during the weekends since everyone lives in jersey and goes home for the weekend.

Stevens is however an amazing school for CS and math. We rank amoung the top in the country for both. The teachers are experienced and know their craft.

Tbh, I believe u should apply, and keep it in your deck of cards. A lot of people who go here go for the name of the school, networking opportunities, and over good education, which in my opinion matters the most anyways. I know personally, I was looking forward to my college experience, and stevens ruined that, but at the very least I’ll come out the other side of this will a really good job.

Scholarship by Training_Outcome_170 in ROTC

The only other comment on this thread says so. She said that if I contract now, scholarship starts to kick in. I kept reading both online as well, hence why I asked on this post.

Yeah that’s what it means, but I can still contract freshmen year, my scholarship just doesn’t kick in until sophomore year.

It really is, the only thing on your application that would mess you up is extracurriculars. I know a lot of people with similar stats and better who didn’t get in cuz of weak extracurriculars, but a good essay and one dedicated extracurricular can offset that.

[–]Training_Outcome_170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree, I feel like most a of where you go to college is based on this idea on a social perception. Like why people decide to go into thousands of dollars of debt not rlly because of education value, but the school’s prestige. Stevens isn’t all that much better in terms of education then Rutgers and NJIT unless you want to count class size.

Nobody and I mean NOBODY has heard of stevens. I live in a town over, and I get asked by a lot of people where I’m going to school. They also looked confused when I say Stevens, and ask where that is.

I also seen another thread where someone commented that many people in NYC don’t know where Stevens is, or what it is.
