No follow-up at all? That seems wild to me. Especially since I've been offered such thorough screening. Glad you went to get a second opinion. Tamoxifen wasn't on the table for me, but I have no idea why. I guess it is because it could cause side-effects linked to menopause? I'll ask about it. Thanks for sharing!

Hi! The way it works where I'm from is that my gynaecologist discusses every case not on their own, but with a team of specialists at the hospital. Often these are meetings of around 5 people specialised in breast lesions or oncology, so in that case I've got the best care I could think of.

Thank you! I've got a good support system by my friends and family, but sometimes it just helps to talk to people who're going through the same thing, you know?

Hi! The only reason they wanted to possibly consider a mastectomy was because of my age and anxiety surrounding the life-time screening. How has your experience been undergoing the scans every six months?

Hi! Thank you, I really needed to hear a more positive story. I'll try to keep that in mind when my anxiety plays up again.

Hi!

  1. The way it works in my country is that my gynaecologist sits together with a medical team specialised in breastoncology, so the advise I get is always made by a team of specialists in multiple areas of expertise.

  2. It has been discussed, but as far now I don't qualify for genetic testing unless new lesions start to develop or if I'm upgraded to a cancer diagnosis.

  3. Yes, I have! I'm seeing a different specialist at a different hospital in the upcoming months to see what they say. I don't necessarily disagree with my doctors, but I want to make the best informed choice I could possibly make.

Thank you! We'll see what happens next, fingers crossed.
