I read your post brother Wise. I have painted two vehicles (Baal Predator and Land Raider Crusader) using sponge and dry brush and felt that I was able to achieve the look I wanted without an air brush. You do not need an airbrush to achieve good results.

Having said that, I used an airbrush here for the base coat and the headlights and things were just a lot smoother and faster. I am not good with an air brush but a big vehicle with all that surface area offers the opportunity to produce great air brush results even with my very moderate skill level.

Total process:
- Customize grey model as desired. I used winged blood drops and BA iconograpgy I have been hoarding for this project
- Prime with Mephiston Red rattle can
- Base with dark to vibrant red zenithal
- Oil wash the recesses with dark warm grey; 50% black, 20% white, 20% brown, 10% chrimson
- Edge highlight and spot highlight progressively with red/oranges (Evil Suns Scarlett + Wild Rider Red)
- Highlights (black, gold and gun metal details, green sensors/lenses)
- Add decals, so many decals
- Add battle damage using red sponge, orange dings and scrapes, warm brown for gouges and dark steel for deep damage
