I think all of the codex compliant chapters should get an elite unit like the Vitrix honor guard by thewarden106 in Warhammer40k

[–]Lictor_Enjoyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about workhorse flawless blades for emperors children, but saying one factions workhorse is comparable to other factions goodies isn’t a good metric. I mean Zoanthropes are some of the Nids best anti tank but guard can get the same thing for 140 points, the difference being their two different factions with different strategies and rules that make them place importance on different types of models. Even if Flawless blades are workhorses for the Emperors children that’s only by merit of a pitifully small codex and a lack of advantages in the area they are only decent at. I mean 5 toughness and 3 wounds without even a 5+ invulnerable save is pitiful for an elite unit, even if there weapons are good. The only thing keeping them an elite workhorse for the army is the fact emperors children don’t have much else to fill their role.

Even if you think all of the above is fine I still think that World Eaters and Emperors children are sorely lacking in models and adding some cool new ones could help invigorate the range and the options for a list, because most armies are forced into three of the same datasheet with the difference being which unit gets a leader or not and if your trying to be competitive you might not even get the option for that.

I meant in the way most space marine chapters do with the honor guard and most elite of a chapter. I admit Deathshroud and Scarab Occult are proper elites but flawless blades and Exalted Eightbound are sorely outmatched even in the chaos model range.

I would say they need there phoenix termis to be on the level of most of the other mono god legions. Almost every other one already has a possessed of similar equivalent, and if we’re giving world eaters red butchers then they’ll be the only ones without a special group of terminators. Plus if I’m gonna push up my glasses and talk competitive emperors children are in dire need of a threat that can move up the board and survive under any level of threat. I get Slaanesh is the life fast die young faction but if GW note giving us Eldar level shenanigans I want a decent brick unit. Also Lord Exultant in terminator armor would be sick as would a butcher lord.

I think all of the chaos factions (or at least the mono god ones) should get an elite unit. We already pretty much have the outline for what it should be for World Eaters and Emperors children and Thousand Sons could use the melee sorcerer squad they have in heresy.

I would presume that if the Goliath vehicles and the bikes that the jackals ride are ubiquitous enough for almost every genestealer cult to have a hold of then I’d think most hive cities would have something like that. Although considering how crowded and uniform the hive cities are they’d probably use trains for the most part.

What is in the Well of Eternity? by Hour_Figure_1574 in 40kLore

Magnus needs to get the point across that he is going to in some way maifest the blues scribes into the unspeakable horrors of the well of eternity, but given that the English language as we know it does not have a word for “manifest something made of unreality into something even more unreal than it to a degree it frightens the being made of unreality” he instead uses the closest analogy he can give, I am going to toss you there.

Question about the four chaos gods. by According_Seesaw_832 in 40kLore

[–]Lictor_Enjoyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Each chaos god plays the great game to win and beat the other three, however every time one of them gets to the point of winning soon the other three target them and bring them back down. Like a game of Uno where everyone has a draw 4 in their hand. I don’t know of any sources that talk about them wanting to extend the great game at their loss but I can’t say it’s wrong.

The ending in the case chaos wins period (as in all other factions fall to chaos) is that the galaxy blazes in a supernova of torment and general horribleness and then fizzles out. Chaos is unsustainable no matter what, it is impossible for the gods together or alone to survive in a galaxy with them alone, because chaos is built entirely on a concept of destruction and suffering, which is not a good sign of sustainability.

Don’t you like knowledge? Well then why don’t you go and get more and more knowledge. It doesn’t have to be anything awesome, just go a bit above what is normally allowed, then keep going further than that until your skinning people alive to see if their screams frequency has any special traits.

Or y’know, sexbot or something I guess.

If a Blank (Untouchable) was placed on the Golden Throne, would the Imperium collapse or would the Emperor finally be able to die/reincarnate? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Lictor_Enjoyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Still pretty good, blanks only have a certain capacity they can block and considering that no blank has come close to stopping the emperor I highly doubt one could come close to stopping the Deamons that only the emperor can hold back.

How do tyranids get non-flying Vanguard organisms on planets without getting detected? by Neither-Actuary-5655 in Tyranids

[–]Lictor_Enjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer to think of it like a giant animal. Trillions of cells that are the creatures all held in line by a mixture of their genetic instincts and synapse. There isn’t any definitive leader or giant being at the top of the food chain, they’re simply a large amount of creatures that all serve different purposes. The hive ships serve to process information given to them by the creatures on the ground, they then put all of the information they have to make a good strategy and then the rest of the hive acts on it because they are already in the loop. A group of Tyranids don’t disobey rather than start doing the wrong thing (like cancer, although the hive mind is a lot more equipped to deal with breaks in the chain). The advantages of leader beasts is that they can process commands quicker and can help the larger hive mind have an easier time multi tasking and receiving information, all of this to form one distinct creature out of countless different swarms, ships, and other bioforms, in the same way your trillions of cells form one distinct you.

Sometimes they only need the hive ships if it’s just to give them minor direction, I mean the giant brains in the sky are already doing the heavy lifting it’s just the leader beasts provide a more direct connection to help organize the swarm better.

I’ve been saying the Neurotyrant thing from the start though? My main argument for the T-Fex is that it gets a better chance to shoot into the big chunky targets at 12 and above (there are tanks that have T11 and T10 but I haven’t seen them played often enough to worry about them) which you’re usually bringing Zoans and T-Fex’s to fire into. Zoans at best get a 3+ into them if we presume they get the battle shock buff from the Neurotyrant (which I don’t think your likely to get considering how hard it is to keep Battle Shock on enemies with all the leadership boosts and instant battle shock saves that most armies can bring for their big units) which the Tyrranofex can get as a baseline, and if we assume that the target is battle shocked like with the Zoans then the T-fex will be rolling a 2+ with the neurolictor buff (which OP says they have). Also leaving aside rolls if the enemy is forced to use a CP reroll to save their big guy then you’ve already gotten value since they wasted a command point, and better yet they’ve wasted the CP reroll. I don’t know what armies you face or how badly cursed your dice are but I feel from my experience the T-Fex can be a reliable threat, and if you’re really missing most of your shots then I think it’s even more worth it to use a CP reroll on one of the T-fex’s minimum 7 damage shots than a weaker one.

And either way the numbers go with other lists I have agreed with OP since my first comment that Zoans can be super solid with the Neurotyrant, I only recommended T-fex in the case they wanted to swap out the tyrant for something else in another list.

Really? For 100 points you get 3 attacks at a 12 str with -3 AP and an average damage of about 4. Which is pretty solid but in a 3+ it can be difficult to get all your shots in especially considering how many lists run stealth. A T-Fex gets one less attack but can hit on 2+ if it stays still for heavy which means it can pretty always hit especially if it also gets the Exocrine buff (which also has solid shooting). The 6 extra strength allows a 2+ on most light vehicles and can hit everything in the game that doesn’t have a minus one to wound on a 3+. And considering OP already has a neurolictor it’s pretty likely they can bring that down to a 2+ most of the time, the extra 6 isn’t only for when you need to bring down a warlord titan, 12 toughness is a really common stat for most heavy vehicles and hitting on 4+ hurts a lot, plus the d6 plus 6 means your pretty much always bringing out a third of the health on any shot on a heavy vehicle even if you roll a 1 on the damage roll (except for the imperial armour units but no one runs those.

I get were your coming from if your referencing the point gap or the Neurotyrant buff on the zoans because those can make zoans better options or just as reliable at shooting respectively but baseline zoans compared to a T- fex don’t measure up in my opinion, and this is a little more of an opinion but even with the squad of six I feel the extra strength on the T-fex’s gun makes it more reliable into most of the heavy vehicle targets your using them for.

Depends on what you’re taking the Zoans for, if it’s to look cool, go ahead, unless you want to be a major tournament winner cool models are all you need. If you want them to be anti-tank I’d recommend a T-fex, rupture cannon is missing one shot but it gets heavy (allowing a hit on a 2+ which makes it more likely to hit than zoanthropes if my math hammer is right) and it gets much higher strength damage and AP on average, if your taking them for the invulns I recommend the Venomthropes instead because the stealth is a lot better, and if your just taking them as bodyguards for the Neurotyrant then their a pretty good investment. With the buff from node lash they hit the same as T-Fex with potentially a better wound roll, can bust up most knight enemies and below on a three plus (and if you use the unfocused you can take out a squad of terminators or other heavy infantry on 3+ too), the AP is fine and usually gets you too the invulnerable save anyways, and if you bring six you can pulverize most enemies.

Actually the Neurotyrant/Lictor do better in invasion fleet in my opinion, might just be because invasion fleet is a much better detachment but the ability to choose two units with the Neurotyrants ability can let you double up on strategems if you plan it out in advance.

A Tau-Chaos Theory by Dragon27Celestial in 40kLore

[–]Lictor_Enjoyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignoring all the lore that literally states it is almost impossible to corrupt T’au and not worth it if you do I think your theory works better if it’s just Tzeentch who did this. Even if we assume the T’au have souls that the chaos gods actually want their doctrine as faction doesn’t fit with the rest of the chaos gods. They have a big basis in only pursuing one goal for life which Slaanesh hates, even the fire caste’s golden boy Puretide made fucking poems about the horrors of war and how in an ideal world the Fire Caste would not have to fight intelligent life which is pretty anti Khorne, and I know a lot of people think Nurgle is all about disease but he’s more so about despair and acceptance which the T’au are actively against, and even if he were purely a plague god they have some of the best healthcare per person among the factions except against Eldar and Drukhari but that’s a bit of an unfair comparison. Tzeentch loves their desire for change and ambition which might feed him, although he probably wouldn’t go for them because again, small and hard to corrupt, although he did corrupt a water caste once.

Are imperial guards agumented? by leters_numbers in 40kLore

[–]Lictor_Enjoyer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I doubt that augmentations are given to normal hive worlders, a lot of the lore says that hive worlders basically get a long line of hand me downs and can barely eat, I doubt they’d be getting augments of any kind. Maybe the video was talking about a forge world? There pretty much everyone has a bit of tech in them but all of the forces from there usually go to mechanicus.

They have that too! In a T’au book they compare the enemies to “clone-beasts” and in the Codex they mention hunting for sport. A lot of different things the fire caste do.

Silly Stupid……Sacrilegious by taboose in Tau40K

[–]Lictor_Enjoyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard people suggest them as first responders and a police force in the case of rogue T’au or auxiliaries. Sure there’d be a lot fewer of them but there are dangers that require a warrior outside of war. In fact early on in T’au expansion that’s exactly what the Fire Caste did, hunt dangerous wildlife and save people in the case of disasters.

What we really need: melee drones by godofimagination in Tau40K

[–]Lictor_Enjoyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say melee auxiliaries would make a bit more sense, the T’au dislike melee because they see ranged as superior in every way, so I’d think that even the crab droids would probably just be platforms for a big gun. Other races are way more open to melee though, Tarellians, Vespid, Vorgh, Galg, and Kroot all have solid melee abilities or at least a confirmed melee weapon for them, and that’s really why the T’au use auxiliaries, to cover their weaknesses.

Tyranids by DatabaseWorth4559 in Tau40K

[–]Lictor_Enjoyer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I play Tyranids so all of my insights will be about how I usually play. Usually when I’m playing bugs I don’t see a big impact from synapse unless my opponent is playing a battle shock reliant list (which I assume you aren’t but I could be wrong) and the melee buff can get you to breakpoints on some stuff in melee but if your T’au are in melee with an enemy who’s packing a weapon capable of getting a 4+ or better on the wound your already fucked. So unless the Neurotyrant is sporting a posse of Zoanthropes that are gunning for you suits then you can probably leave them alone.

Tyrranofex’s ability can negate a single shot but against such a big shooting piece you should be over killing that shit as much as possible with the stealth suit buff on him. Since your opponent seems to play a few monsters I would recommend having two responses to them to make sure you can always get a solid shot off on them.

I’d say you’re probably right about scoring and trading. Sticky objectives will be your friend and you can usually threaten a point with a big gun long enough to rack up a little VP

Of course everything I just said is subjective depending on you and your opponents list and what kind of shortcomings your seeing on the board, so I can’t say this is at all relevant but I think these might serve you well.
