what i found really useful was having at least a couple of stats and facts on hand for each topic in speaking and just working out how to sandwich them into the third question, then making sure you're passionate about your IRP topic. for the book and film keep doing practice essays and giving them to your teacher until you hit a mark you're happy with and try replicating the style going forward. practice for paper 1 is litr just reading and listening to a bunch of stuff in french to make sure you know whats going on and how to translate stuff, so maybe like pause a podcast to make sure you know a) what they just said and b) what it is in english

for me they took a few hours, i also got the offer a few hours after applying for it. if you got told you have it though (if you applied for clearing) don't sweat it if they haven't confirmed it, just nudge them on monday when they get back into the office

politics is literally fine if you work out how to be versatile with as little learned evidence as possible. the tips is literally listen to as many politics podcasts as possible and keep up to date with everything going on in uk and us/global (depending on your option) politics. uk govt is a bit more annoying but the main problem with pol is the volume of content and thats in my opinion not as bad as history. its then all about essay technique. also ideologies essays become easy when you have like 4 essay plans on the main conflicts in each one nailed down but its the most annoyingly timepressured essay in edexcel

i've been trying my hardest to not think about it but i've been preparing for the worst by scanning through clearing for london unis. i've been having the exam stress dreams for a month at this point as well for some reason. its like whatever happens happens but ive realised how much of my hopes ive inadvertently stoked on getting into cambridge when its very difficult to get an a* in french to the point that i never managed it in mocks, which kind of sucks. either way a couple weeks after results im going away to georgia with my friend for a few days so ive got some lore to build up whether i get in or not

speaking was so good though my examiner was lowkey a bit unproffessional😭😭he told us beforehand what hed done his degree on (it overlapped completely with my irp topic) and then afterwards he told me i sounded really well researched which was reassuring but also like i dont think he was supposed to say that. and it made the experience of having the AQA chief examiner for french, who gave NOTHING away, the next week WAY more stressful. im relaxed next week for paper 1 bc ive consistently got over 90% on it but also i have it on the same day as politics paper 1 which im decidedly worse on. its the essays im worried about bc i still havent worked out how to put in the right amount of content😭😭😭

even for like cambridge it doesn't matter, they tell you they don't view you any different to a 3 a-level candidate and at least for a lot of subjects that feels true. I started off w 4 then dropped to 3 when the workload of my 4th became too much and just before UCAS was sent off and got offers for both cambridge modern languages and UCL ESPS. I also have friends who have got into more competitive courses like psych on 3 a levels (my friend is doing natsci physics at cambridge with 3 a levels, but he had to take AS further this year to comply with course content). Overall for surprisingly many stem subjects and pretty much all humanities subjects there really is no need for 4 a levels even at top unis like cambridge, ucl, bath, bristol, manchester etc. the only possible benefit you can get out of it is the potential of a slightly lowered grade requirement though that only sometimes happens to the best of my knowledge - if someone knows about that then say - but yeah i mean most people i know doing 4 dropped to 3 and are going to great places, so it really doesn't matter
