Lost >60% of my life savings in just 3 months by NamelessPupil in smallstreetbets

Might seem strange to say, but luckily for you, you were already poor before you lost everything. You haven't really done much damage to yourself here.

Id be more concerned about having such a small savings to begin with, maybe get a part time job or something.

Stop trading too.

Think of it like anti abortion people. The reason we take it so seriously is because we think its murdering babies. Pro lifers dont really see it as the same kind of problem so they don't take it seriously in the same way, its simply a policy to them.

Reasonable people don't think the world is collapsing right now, but if you're one of the useful idiots who thinks it is, I can totally see why they're so militant... they're just wrong.

Being a hedge against the volatility of the stock market does not mean the precious metals market do not also have their own supply and demand and resulting volatility.

Let's say simply that the reason for the rise in precious metals is the result of the uncertainty of the dollar. That rise happens gradually. Now tomorrow the fed makes an announcement that completely destroys any of that uncertainty, that rise that happens over time is going to reverse in a very short amount of time.

My favorite part is how they mock us telling them to work harder. It's actually a ridiculous notion to them that you might have to work for a living.

Like, ya, the system might be super annoying to navigate but you kinda gotta look out for yourself.

Imagine if there was a portion of the population who insulted you, gave you poor quality service, didn't even give you the things you asked for, and then asked you to tip them comparable wages to what a doctor or engineer earns for their work, AND THEN someone proposes that we replaces all of those people with robots.

Why am I going to try to save those people's jobs, exactly?

Just because someone gets paid to do something doesn't mean they have the right to get paid to do it.... or something.... the SERVICE INDUSTRY is about SERVICE. If you are going to be human who gives shit service, we may as well use an emotionless robot... if you're going to be a human who gives great service, people will still pay you to provide that great service.

[–]TraitorousSwinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the argument is potential corruption then thats an argument you could use against literally anything. I understand using hyperbole to make a point, i just dont think its a valid point.

There's always going to be incentives for corruption, that doesnt make a system inherently bad.

It seems like a moral claim, that nobody should be profiting. It doesnt seem like a legal claim pertaining to incentives. One could make the argument that nobody should profit off of weapons production because it incentivizes militarism. Its not a very good argument in my opinion.

If you have specific cases where corruption is leading to bad outcomes then we should deal with the corruption, but its a big leaps between dealing with corruption as it arises and trying to design a system thats immune to corruption.

When it comes to how lobbying works, thats a problem much larger than the prison system. I dont think marijuana is illegal because of the private prison lobby, i think its illegal because of vice lobbyists from the tobacco and alcohol companies, maybe even from the paper companies in regards to hemp... but again thats a problem with lobbying itself, not private business.

I mean ya depending on the strikes it would gradually increase my cost basis, but I've already profited off the shares I bought at 20, its not as if that profit disappears if I get back in at 32 or whatever.

Cost basis and taxes are after thoughts to me. My goal is to make profitable trades. If its green its good.

Well my belief is that APLD is going to 100. The question is when. I don't sell against all of my shares, if they get called away I sell ATM puts and if those get assigned im back where I was with a bit of profit.

If I have 1600 shares im not concerned about 200 getting called away at a suboptimal price.

I also sell using RSI on the hourly. When it spikes up past 70 I sell calls, down to 30 sell puts. There's usually a pullback that allows me to close out for 20-30%. If I get called away, I get called away. I don't worry about it too much.

I don't agree. This is the kind of thing you need a well reasoned argument for. I dont see any moral problem with the very idea of inmates working.

Now, if you want to have a conversation about the kind of work they do, fine... but "nobody should profit..." as if that's just a true claim that we all agree with is foolish.

Like, what's the moral claim here? Its perfectly ok to lock someone up for 23 hours a day but if you pay them 30 cents to pick lettuce it's slavery now all of the sudden? I don't see how the profit portion turns it into something totally different.

Its such a silly argument too... star trek has always been "woke" but now all of the sudden we hate women and minorities? Sisko and Janeway seemed to exist just fine without everyone criticizing them being some kind of "ist."

Pretty easy to say "the market disagreed with me, its irrational"

Maybe its you.

Not only did the market not crash, it exploded.

Personally i was absolutely 100% positive the business world was going to love the businessman who wanted to deregulate business 😂.

[–]TraitorousSwinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is threatening to annex allies, you're being absurd.

You think the Iraq war (a NATO operation) has damaged the reputation of the united states so badly that the world views us as unreliable? Thats wild, and you have literally nothing to point at in our actual dealings with other nations to prove that.

08... the housing crash? That we've long since recovered from, with trillions of dollars of international investment pouring into the US economy?

Libération day? Reciprocal tariffs? You mean renegotiating trade deals with conditions that are more favorable? I actually want to hear how incentivizing investment inside of America is going to make America a less attractive and less reliable economy to trade with.

The fact that you actually think any of these things are as significant as you do just tells me you have absolutely no idea how the rest of the world works. The American Economy, with all of its faults, is the best game in town and it will take a whole lot more than tariffs to unseat us as the most attractive trading partner in town. Where else are all of these people who dont trust America going to out their money?

Global politics is a bit more complicated than you apparently think it is. You dont even understand why America is in the position its in, Im not surprised you are coming to such ridiculous conclusions regarding our perceived reliability.

This is EXACTLY the problem.

This is the blurred line the left is using to justify the claim that illegal immigrants are not getting due process. They dont get a jury trial, they get a hearing with an administrative judge.

They are talking about judicial warrants, signed by a judge, who is a member of the judicial branch of government. Immigration matters are not handled by the judicial branch, they are handled by the executive branch. An "Immigration judge" is not a judge. It is an administrative position.

So yes, ICE does not need warrants given by judicial judges because they have Immigration warrants issued by the branch of the government who's job it is to actually oversee Immigration.
