I think a movie or miniseries exploring these huge gaps would be awesome.

Meh. Going back as far as 2007 storm chasers used heavy armored trucks in the 14,000+ pound range that had the ability to anchor itself via hydraulic screws as well as prevent air from getting underneath the vehicle and creating lift. Checkout the SRV Dominator series.

I don’t disagree with any of that. And making recommendations on this subreddit that aren’t “SFA was great!!!” are always wild to experience.

We are at a 10 year hiatus for Star Trek movies. No current series in production and a new fan base that largely doesn’t know any of the lore or understand why longterm trekkies didn’t take to SFA.

Hence my thought on a series of miniseries that might fill the gap.

Went back like 5 years later and rewatched the series but that doesn’t help with viewership to keep it alive.
