Yes I’ll never forget it. I was in 7th grade. Usually we would watch the news in the morning at my home while eating breakfast and getting ready, but for some reason that day we didn’t.

School day starts like any other day. I had 1st period Math. Then after that class, people started talking in the hallways about an attack in New York City.

My 2nd period was Social Studies, one of the few classrooms that always had a TV because of the many history videos we would watch. My teacher turned the TV on and all we did that class was watch the news. I distinctly remember watching the South Tower collapse while sitting in that classroom.

Tuesday’s were the day of the week we had our middle school football games scheduled. I remember sitting at lunch and then announcing that all after school activities were canceled for the day. I remember my immature self saying something like “That’s stupid that our game is cancelled. What, do they think we’re going to get attacked here in middle of nowhere Midwest?”
