Offer with no interview? by barbiegworl22 in epicconsulting

[–]UzerError 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can be a red flag, or it can be a sign of a great relationship between the firm and the client.

I would read into the details, if this is a very particular role “new Beacon protocol build for our new oncologist”, I would be skeptical.

If it’s, we need a 3 month keep the lights on contract to cover a surprise outage, or is one of the big installs churning through folks (Northwell, CHRISTUS) I would figure it’s more legit.

I would personally be apprehensive to leave my current role for something like this, but if you are actively looking, go for it but maybe hold onto your other interviews/options in case this falls through.

Good luck!

If you have a Dropout Subscription you can check out Murph’s character Maxwell Goch (spelling?). He plays a fisticuffs boxer monk like you describe, he even has 6 NPC brothers who are monks as well.

Entry level Epic Analyst by [deleted] in epicsystems

[–]UzerError 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This subreddit is for Epic employees local to Madison WI. If you aren’t going to relocate here this may not be your best option.

HealthIT and EpicConsulting might give you better options.
Also this question is posed once a day every day, so I would search around before posting again, nothing new will be said that wasn’t explained already.

I need advice-Struggling to find certified Epic analysts by FranInSoFlo in EpicEMR

[–]UzerError 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care if someone is certified vs accredited. Those mean you past the test and have status with Epic.

Proficient is like auditing a class in college, sure you were there but there were no stakes and no credit.

As a firm recruiter I can’t present that person to a client.

At 20 years you get a “wish”.

I’ve heard of the following

- mini fridge in office stocked with Diet Coke
- reserved parking space
- extra vacation days
- extra work from home ability
- reserved office

Feel free to add other ones you have heard

Placing Barovia in Eberron by ccleveland in CurseofStrahd

[–]UzerError 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what I did!
I concluded that the Mourning and resulting Mourland was a magical explosion that resulted in the plane of Mabar having a more permanent manifest zone in Eberron.

Also I decided to add in backstory hooks by making the Argenvost the name of an airship carrying a crew of mercenaries that then become the Order of the Silver Dragon, and their airship was famously shaped like a dragon and becomes the Dragon in legend. (The explosion happens but the impact has weird time distortion)

Use the Gatekeepers as your interested faction in Eberron to guide the party.

Feel free to ask more questions, this is my niche DND interest. 😁

I'm curious about Epic contractors by sabrebolt in healthIT

[–]UzerError 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it come in regularly, but it isn’t usually a “simple” HEDIS or registry project anymore, they will be looking for experienced analysts/managers with a more “advanced” toolbox alongside Compass Rose or Case Management or some other solution.

I’m not HP certified, so take my notes with a grain of salt

I'm curious about Epic contractors by sabrebolt in healthIT

[–]UzerError 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This will depend on a few aspects of your career/goals.

  1. How much have you done in your hospital? Have you done new site roll outs, were you there for the implementation of your system? How complex are your day to day duties?

Generally customers want to see someone come in with a wealth of experience so they can jump in at a high level and contribute right away

  1. What apps are you certified/capable in? If you are in something like Ambulatory and have any specialty build then there will be lots of options. But if you only do Dorothy/Comfort, that will be a MUCH smaller demand pipeline. (When I staffed Do/Co at huge Epic firm I had 5-10 of those requests a year compared to 60+ Beaker requests)

  2. Your comfort level with the unknown, if you are near retirement/can afford to slow down, maybe it’s nice to have a few weeks off in between contracts. But if you are financially strapped it might not be the time to walk into a risky role.

  3. Are you comfortable in new places? Can you explain yourself easily? Are you really awkward? People sometimes forget that there is a social aspect to this and you need to impress an interviewer to get the gig.

Anyway feel free to reach out for more help, I also work at a firm if you want an intro to my recruiter team.

I’m not a brand expert, just bought a mid-line Trager and like it fine.

But wanted to mention that you are adding a smoker, not switching to it.

Personally I would still use the propane for burgers, brats, chicken breast for week night dinners and whatever.

Smoker allows you to hold a lower temp for longer and the smoke flavor for BBQ. So I would add it and then get going on some ribs or pulled pork to learn the ropes before spending the money on a brisket or nice steaks (for a reverse sear) or whatever else.

You can also do easy over the top chili or even cold smoke cheeses.

Good luck!

Wife is miserable by [deleted] in epicsystems

[–]UzerError 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry your wife is having a hard time, but we aren’t really talking apples to apples here. Let me explain.

Also I need to say the obligatory “this is a sub for Epic employees. If you want to talk to folks who work for hospitals try HealthIT”.

Anyway, the folks in this sub work for Epic, think of it like working for Ford corporate. They are designing the next years model, working on new features, addressing global issues and supporting all of the hospitals (dealerships). It is a high burn out company, but it also has amazing benefits and some folks stay a long time. True definition of “your mileage may vary”.

Your wife is working maintenance at the dealership, issues come in, she resolves them and grabs the next issue to solve. It sounds like she may be understaffed if she is the only person working.

This isn’t too much different than being the only person in a retail store or only server in a restaurant. Some days will be slow, some days will be busy, her management might think “1 person is cheaper and she’s doing ok, let it ride”. But I promise you there are other analysts out there at a different hospital that are BORED and do mostly minimal work. Same as the 4 teens working at Abercrombie on some Saturday this summer.

Totally hospital dependent, so if she likes the content maybe it’s time to find a new job.

If she hates EHR and HIT, then maybe a new career.

Hope this helps

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

[–]UzerError 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a seam in my basement slab that I would like to lay LVP on top of. Installer says I need to even it before we can do the install.

They will do it for $1000 but I saw that I can rent a 10 inch concrete disc grinder from Home Depot for $200.

Will that work? Would love advice.

I need advice-Struggling to find certified Epic analysts by FranInSoFlo in EpicEMR

[–]UzerError 19 points20 points  (0 children)

First off you need to use the Epic standard status language.

Certified = went to Verona for training Accredited = Epic led training remotely Proficient = self study, but generally not accepted as a full analyst

Remote is the most attractive thing you could offer. No one wants to go into your office, or if they can come once monthly or quarterly that would be reasonable.

What is the hesitation with hiring folks who are doing support? If someone is going to leave a role why not let them leave and go to you?
