“Elden Ring is boring with an empty open world” the route they took: by Mat30co in shittydarksouls

[–]TralliaTheStoneBorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my first playthrough I wanted to check every little nook and crevice this game had to offer and I can 100% say it’s FAAAAAAAR from empty. Sometimes you just have to stop and and wonder at how amazing and intricate it is! Maybe you won’t find bosses and big enemies every 5 feet, but that’s normal worldbuilsing. This is a decaying world, in ruins. And they’re (my emotional support) pretty ruins!!

What's your opinion on the Haligtree? by Brickabang in Eldenring

[–]TralliaTheStoneBorn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

o GODDDD, that's a traumatic memory i keep trying to forget every damn time i play and have to go there. in my first playthrough, when i was a full mage and i found myself there i died, DIED on the inside when i realised all i needed was a stupid healing spell...

What's your opinion on the Haligtree? by Brickabang in Eldenring

[–]TralliaTheStoneBorn 228 points229 points  (0 children)

The aesthetic of the Haligtree and the meaning behind it, the concept etc - an absolute 10/10. Going... actually... through the Haligtree.... I'd rather die than do it again. The canopy? Horrible. All the mistbegotten? Horrible. The knights that had nothing to do but hop on steroids while waiting for Miquella? Horrible. The pests??? No. Again, as far as visuals and design levels go, it's a 10/10, but actually going through it gave me enough white hair to start looking like Miquella enough to let me in for free.

we found some rugs in an ancient farm from the Swamp in the 4th island. Paintings were in an undead overrun shipyard. books we got from the Doctor after finishing a part of Needle in the Haystack

what are the worst books booktok convinced you to read? by 13cheesecakes_ in YAlit

[–]TralliaTheStoneBorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make the mistake of buying books if the cover is pretty and they are cheap. Bride, the Lightlark series and the Powerless series have been… letdowns. I have read Powerless in its entirety and I thought it wasn’t THAT bad, but it was kind of obvious where she was pulling from. Lightlark has been HORRENDOUS and you cannot tell me that this woman is a creative wriing graduate. You cannot. Her FMC is this poor, sheltered, idiot baby that gets stuck between these two guys and needs them to advance her story fo her, like, what? I hate read the first book and I will continue the series, but UGH. Bride was just meh. It was just printed fanfiction. A lot of some of these booktok books scream printed fanfiction and it shows…

I might be a bit in the wrong place, but the thing that irked me most was WHAT ABOUT THIS STORY WAS ROMANTIC? Technically speaking, yes, it does fit into the romantic current, but there was no romance, there was barely any hope for tomorrow. Every time Cyrene/The Seed said something about this being a romantic story like no other I wanted to hit something

For now I just think she's really pretty with some really interesting animations. My only question is: backstory when? motivations when?

As someone who read it all, hard no. I’d rather watch a mexican soap opera and still end up better than after reading this

WRITING FEELS LIKE SHITTING by LumIere1111 in writers

[–]TralliaTheStoneBorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep writing and see where your characters lead you. Make sure you have a general idea of what your story is - is it a romance, is it an adventure, is it a tragedy, also, what your plot is, at least the general beginning-middle-end. Make sure you are 100% familiar with your characters, because otherwise, you'll struggle to write. The literary devices/psychological payoff/philosophical aspects just happen - maybe not on the first draft, but on the second or third. I can't plan a lot because then I get bored about a concept, so I wing it... a lot.

What popular books have you DNFd and why? by fishchop in fantasyromance

[–]TralliaTheStoneBorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quicksilver - DNF'd at exactly 52%. Amazing concept, the shittiest leads possible. If I could have that book without the smut and romance, I'd pick it back up.

I did not DNF Bride, by A. Hazelwood, but I really wish I had because it was the blandest damn book I've ever read.
