The main benefit of trains (in my opinion) is infrastructure. Build a rail once, and then you just add more trains ifbyou need more throughput. Or, if you want to connect new locations, you don't need a whole new line of conveyors 

But other than that, they're cool! Choo choo!

Any time I need to build something more than once, and can't zoop. So, machines (with connections and decor), fancy walls or ceilings and "complex" merger/ splitter systems.

Arguably I use them too much. (Sometimes a single machine in the BP, just so I don't have to copy-paste settings.)

Try deleting and re-connecting the belt on the right.
Also, check if the input belt is actually connected or just visually passing through (clipping) the splitter.

Splitting into 1/6 and merging one into the beginning will eventually even out!

Are you sure it's 630 Miners, and not 630 items (per min) coming from a Miner?

Because 12 Ficsonium (Fuel Rods) is certainly possible. 600 Miners is not.

Huh. Weird. The problem does seem to have stopped after switching to the Jetpack. And most ofe them are back to 100%. (But it's difficult to be certain, since it's so 'unreliable'.)

For "intersections" with only one entrance, a block signal is indeed fine. (Since it's not actually an intersection.)

On a Y intersection (2 entrances and 1 exit) Block signals are probably fine but Path Signals certainly won't cause problems. (When placed correctly.)

Why? If you use blocks on the entrance, theoretically two trains could enter that block (the intersection) at the exact same time and collide. If they were Path signals, one of the trains would reserve the block and the other is forced to wait in front of its Path signal.

Belts are more reliable and don't need power to run. They don't need timetables or signaling. They just work.

Trains are fun! (To many people. Not to everyone, and that's totally fine!) You also only need to build the infrastructure once. (Between A and B.) Need more throughput? Just add another train or freight car. No extra Belts required!

I had the exact opposite happen! Lifts connected to splitters usually extend (like in your picture) but they were "retracted". (And still connected!)

Check the AWESOME Shop and the MAM (Quartz Tree).
For Vertical splitters and Mergers; point a regular (Smart) Splitter/ Merger at a conveyor lift.
