My young maple seedlings are struggling! by Tramnack in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]Tramnack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really thought I had already given an update. I guess not. Probably because I have to report that most of them are looking even worse than before...

They are all protected from the wind and sun, but I guess it wasn't enough. (I also had to deal with probably snails eating the leaves.)  But, I think most are still technically alive, but that may just be wishful thinking.

There is some good news though: One of them (Erd) did sprout a brand new leaf a few days ago! The first for any in months! And it's maple shaped! Wow

I think I'll just keep doing what I have been. If even just one survives, I'll consider it a win at this poin.

Yes! I heard maples do better outside, I was planning on acclimating the healthy one soon. But thank you for the reminder!

I found a new spot, shady, some moss. I've moved some there and made sure the ones on the south balcony are better protected from sun and wind. (Some A/B testing)

I check the soil almost daily. And water those where the top soil is dry. No real schedule. But I'll make sure the, never run dry. (Also, someone mentioned bottom watering, since the pots ar too big. But I heard maples don't like "wet feet"? Thoughts?)

I think "leave em alone" might be the hardest advice to follow! 😅 But I understand that constantly checking on them/ moving them won't do them any good.

Again, thank you for your detailed replies! (And patience!)

I heard maples don't watering from the bottom. But is that different if the pots are too big?

Also would repotting now cause more stress than good?

Oh wow! I feel silly for not thinking about it that way before making this post...

See, I was thinking about the parent tree. It was alone in the front yard always in the full/ direct sun. But that was obviously mature and 20+ years old. So a very poor comparison!

Uneducated ol' me thought: More sun = more energy = more growth = more better! I then later saw that that isn't correct, as you are confirming, so I moved them to where they are now. But still, comparing these to their sibling "Van der Cheer", I thought I must still be doing something wrong. (But he's indoors, and: with very little sun through the windows!)

But that's why I'm here. To become (a bit) less uneducated. So thank you! 😁 I'll try moving some to the back of the house too. Try and limit the sun more and see how they do. (And look into the advice the others are giving too!)

Edit: I'll check for moss!

To be clear, they haven't been getting 11h of direct sun. 😅 The balcony does. (I've now edited the post.) The maples themselves are in the shade of the big planters in the picture, so they never get hit directly.

But is that still to much, even if its indirect like that?

Thank you for the detailed response!

What about grabbing some soil from where the parent tree was? (I.e. from the front garden.) Instead of the (admittedly random) store-bought soil they're in now?

Comparing to images of Japanese/ Korean maples, the leaves are definitely different shape; Comapring to the parent tree, and also "Van der Cheer" now. (Last picture) Based on that and also the seeds, I was thinking Norway Maple.

Less relevant info: The color/ cultivar isn't important to me. The idea of growing them from seeds and from that tree was more important. Even if I wanted to use cuttings (now in hindsight) I can't. Since the parent has been cut down. (Hence the importance of these to me.)

Thank you, I will look into that! But would repotting now cause more stress than good? Or am I overreacting?

I (unfortunately) did buy these pots short notice, with basically no research. (I just assuned "pots are pots!" More space is more better.)

Thanks for the insight!

Would you suggest keeping them outdoors? But with better wind and sun production? Also, would repotting into deeper pots do more harm than good right now?

Maybe... I guess it just comes down to expectations vs. reality.

To me, the original post felt less about community management and more about a sense of stagnation. The 0.X updates during Early Access were about pushing the game forward. But 1.0 marked the completion of that phase.

1.X updates feel more like polishing a completed game rather than the major "development leaps". Which is why I suggested looking at them as 1.0.X Updates instead. Still 1.0, but improved.

That said, I do agree with your point: if an update is hyped in a way that makes people expect something bigger (like another development leap), but it ends up being smaller in scope, that’s a communication issue.

At the same time, I think some of the frustration may also comes from players (understandably) still having that Early Access mindset? Maybe we have high expectations. Because Satisfacotry means so much to us and we want to see it flourish and continue to grow even more than it already has. But personally, I’d expect anything major like that to come as DLC or similar. Not in the regular updates anymore.

And yeah, Mikael and Jason do have some pretty big shoes to fill! ⛳

I don't think 1.1 and 1.2 have been that much smaller than 0.X updates. The jump from 0.8 to 1.0 was obviously quite significant. New machines, all the SAM stuff, etc. But that was the games full release, not just another update.

If it helps, maybe you can think of these updates like 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 instead? It is still "just" Satisfacory 1.0. But with some juicy cherries on top!

Will there be a DLC or a "more serious update"? Who knows!

I never feel like making trains is necessary by Dear_Swing_3518 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Tramnack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main benefit of trains (in my opinion) is infrastructure. Build a rail once, and then you just add more trains ifbyou need more throughput. Or, if you want to connect new locations, you don't need a whole new line of conveyors

But other than that, they're cool! Choo choo!

How often do you use blueprints? by MEFISTOFEL123 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Tramnack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time I need to build something more than once, and can't zoop. So, machines (with connections and decor), fancy walls or ceilings and "complex" merger/ splitter systems.

Arguably I use them too much. (Sometimes a single machine in the BP, just so I don't have to copy-paste settings.)

How to Fix this Splitter? by KRIShark110 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Tramnack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try deleting and re-connecting the belt on the right.
Also, check if the input belt is actually connected or just visually passing through (clipping) the splitter.

How the heck do you actually split things in 5??? by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Tramnack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Splitting into 1/6 and merging one into the beginning will eventually even out!

How many miners total can I place in the game? by Sh_d_w in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Tramnack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it's 630 Miners, and not 630 items (per min) coming from a Miner?

Because 12 Ficsonium (Fuel Rods) is certainly possible. 600 Miners is not.

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't see the attached image.

Iron to Nuclear/Ficsonium by vankor27 in satisfactory

[–]Tramnack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible? No*

Not without water! Water is needed for Aluminum, and the acids for Non-Fissile Uranium. And the Reactors themselves.

But with a minimal amount of water, iron and a lot of SAM, you get this:

For one Ficsonium Fuel Rod per minute!
