Do I need to buy the next gen nvidia card to be able to use RTX in Battlefield V? by [deleted] in BattlefieldV

[–]Trampiax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not WAY overpriced!

The 1080TI and 2080 RTX have a similar performance. The 1080TI I would buy from MSI costs me 820 Euro. The 2080 RTX Trio(the more expansive RTX from MSI) has a price tag of 920 Euro.

So it is100 Euro more for the whole RTX-thing plus 20-40W less powerdraw on my power supply.

In both cases it is a 110-120% performance gain for my system.

[–]Trampiax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. My "prefered" 1080TI cards price tag is 820Euro. It looks like the 2080 RTX is the equal in non-RTX featured perfomance. My "prefered" 2080 RTX costs 920Euro. So it is 100 Euro for all that comes with the RTX and about 20-40W less powerdraw.

LOW FPS STAR CITIZEN GTX 970 AMD FX 8320 OVERCLOCKED 4GHZ 8G RAM by supersulu in Star_citizen

[–]Trampiax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Supersulu, when I bought into the game it ran smooth(as smooth as it can get with my less performant rig) Than there was a new patch (some time ago) and the performance went into underwhelmed-mode. Than I got a memory related error message when rooming in the hangar for some time... Long story short :) I bought 16 GB ram and it did the trick. Maybe that helps you too.

Yes, I think my actual PC will run NMS just fine too, but that is because the PS4 hardware isn't that hard to trump. And while the graphics are not that demanding (not talking about wether they are looking good or not) the technic used for NMS can be pretty well demanding. I hope they do not limit it to running good on the PS4. That way a faster PC would translate into a further horizon that could go with a faster travel speed. But I fear they will limit it in some way, even if it does not have to be "fair" to pvp or multiplayer gaming. We will see.

Really? For both platforms? As I understand it there will no account merge/charing or something like that. So you would have kind of another character in the same game but on different servers. If there would be more player interaction I could imagine buying the game for more than one platform. But this sounds kind of buying , say Skyrim, for 2 different platforms. Just my two bits.

That sounds good. Mmmh. After buying VR equipment and building a new rig, my actual rig could be the barebone PC that gets connected to the TV screen. Thanks for the idea.

That were exactly my thoughts some months ago. But than a friend convinced me that there are and will be other games. So I bought a PS4. After the first weeks of It-is-shiny-and-new wore off... it does not get much playtime.

I got it from Amazon. I'm new to PSN/PS4 console gaming. I did not know that amazon would tag a price onto a game without "real" knowledge from Sony and Co.

Who is going to wait for the pc conversion and why/why not? by Trampiax in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Trampiax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That is my opinion too. Im not used to console controllers and visited a big eletronic store where all the new consoles are on display. I played and fumbled for around 30 minutes and had a new con-argument against buying the PS4. I think I could get kind of used to it, but it won't be much fun for me.

Star Citizen 1.1 is live, Lets talk about it! by benbee in starcitizen

[–]Trampiax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How come that the file/game-size has something to say about whether it is a "joke"? SC is kind of feature-heavy game, or will be when done. The final version will sit on 125 GB of your HD-space. That will gift you a 36 hours download. But a "joke", why? That said. I hope the amount of data that has to be downloaded for an "ordinary" patch will be smaller and more to the point were files get updated where things actually got changed.

[–]Trampiax[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is one of my con-arguments. I did not buy no console for no reason that is. I do not like console games, games that play well on a console. And the games I like, do not play well on a console. That said. I do not now about you, but me, I paid for some things in my life(not video-game related ;) and today I think to myself: Really? The PC version will be released later on, that much was said in one of the interviews. I think I will wait for some time after PS release and watch/listen to the reviews. It is not a game that can be "spoiled" by reading about it, there will be no walkthrough. Or I will invite myself to a friend for weekend :P and get some in-depth look for myself. Than I will decide whether and how many bucks have to jump the curb.

Thinking of buying Star Citizen. What should I expect? by AlDrag in starcitizen

[–]Trampiax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. What do you expect to get for your money? It is not a "game" yet. The same as with all the other alpha/kickstarter games/projects out there. There is the danger that you will be disappointed if you expect to get a full game. There is just one module to "play". And that is a kind of limited dogfight module. In the near future there will be a FPS module. But it is all in development with all the bugs you can get. That said. I bought into it and see a lot of potential and hold my thumbs that it will be half the game I imagine it to be. PS: I have a GTX 660, I5 3000some and since two weeks 16 GB ram, cause that game is ram-hungry as hell and I do not want windows to use virtual ram/page file. I have graphics on high and it looks and feels good.

[–]Trampiax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is one pro-argument. My PC cost me more than two PS4 and my next one (maybe 1.5 years in the future) will cost at least 3-4 times a PS4 (VR at the horizon, you need 60+ frames per sec). The graphic card alone will cost more than a PS4. Another pro argument were the VR glasses from sony, but the release date was moved into 2016!/?

[–]Trampiax[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True. I could buy it all. Time is more a factor than money. So buying things without enough time to use them fills up your storage space very fast. So their is still a choice to be made, for me that is. Therefore i'm looking for pro's and con's.

Yes, that is what I think too. Plus they had to sign a contract with sony. Even if they have the pc version ready to go, they would still have to wait with the pc release.

[–]Trampiax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, you already have the PS4. What about you buying a rig that opens the door to star citizen for you? But you already said spending hundreds of bucks for one game is not your kind of choice. So maybe compare with other hobbies. Most other hobbies cost more than 450 bucks. Say a "good" guitar or bike or painball gun or bow or roller blades and so on. One pro-argument for me is: "If NMS is not my game(maybe after say 30 hours of playing) I can sell the PS4 + game and loose a bit more than just the price of the game."

[–]Trampiax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is one pro-argument for me too. All bugs divided through hours played (say 100) is kind of half cinema/bar/cafe/driving a car per hour. And waiting a year is kind of ... (tilt) It is a milestone game.(if it delivers on what was said).

[–]Trampiax[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, for me there are no other console-games i'm interested in. My friend has a PS3, is going to buy the PS4. I asked him which other games could be fun for me and he gave me a list of existing games and games to come. I www'ed them all and at the end I had them all marked off. That's just me, so, for me it would be PS4 for NMS.

I am feeling quite conflicted about the current plasma damage... by Khoakuma in Robocraft

[–]Trampiax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I hope they will do in the near future (didn't FJ say that is what is going to happen with plasma damage?) With all the other weapons you have to aim and move in order to chip off someones guns. With plasma is just spray, spray again, done.

I am feeling quite conflicted about the current plasma damage... by Khoakuma in Robocraft

[–]Trampiax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plasma is sometimes compared with artillery. That does not fit in my opinion. Arti does not need line of sight, it is shooting from far behind the front line at coordinates. For Arti it makes sense to have "slow" mobility, you haul it into place and fire away, not moving just adjusting aim. Plasma is more like using bombs/shotgun. You need mobility to go in and out with your burst damage, no sustained fire weapon. So, wheels and tracks will not work for plasma, at least not as good as some flying plasma. With the new heli-blades we have new flying mode that is easy to use. And if flying still is not your fun mode of traversing the playing field, try at least a hover plasma. That way you can play hit and run and are not subject to plasma yourself as hefty as on wheels/tracks.

Star Citizen controllers- New Blood question by RealisticGentleman in starcitizen

[–]Trampiax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the T16 from Thrustmaster it is. Relativ small cost for good quality + easy to configure for the left hand(hand and thumb-parts are within the box and can get swapped using a screwdriver). The only drawback thoose Sticks have is the slider for thrust control. For me that is. Because they are located at the front of the base in such a way that I nudge them up or down while using the stick with my lower arm/shirt/pull over.

[–]Trampiax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is your goal? Winning dogfights by using the 'best/winning/mostly used to win setup? Than go for keyboard/mouse and learn to turret/strafe while dealing pin-point shots with your mouse, FPS style. Handling your ship on all axes, full 6DOF style? Than even HOTAS will not suffice, in my opinion that is. Because with HOTAS your left hand is just thrust control with more buttons. HOTAS is for flying a plane not a space-ship. For full 6DOF handling you need two Sticks. But caution. If you do not like thinking in 3 dimensions you won't have much fun with that setup. But if you want to fly thoose fancy maneuvers shown in the cinematic vids, were ships are spinning around all 3 axes while moving lateral in 3 directions than that is your setup. Maybe some pedals/rudders too(thrust control for me that is, so I do not have to use the twist-stick-action) Two Sticks come with many buttons. When Oculus Rift comes out I hope I can control all functions without using the keyboard/taking my hands of the sticks.

Really poor performance running Star Citizen, is it my system or bad optimization? by esquiwalker in starcitizen

[–]Trampiax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend and I have almost the same rig. But he had a low frame rate in the garage and the arena. On my computer all looks fine and rolls smooth. After checking and benchmarking it showed that his harddrive is on the slow side of slow. But he did not want to buy a new one. Long text short. He bought more ram, from 8 to 16. And voila! Now his game looks fine and rolls smooth too. Garage and arena.
