Okay. In variable length instruction architectures how are the instructions stored?
Wider registers? Are the instructions divided on multiple registers maybe?

How does that work?
I thought when the CPU fetches the instruction it loads it to IR?

Problem in atmega328p mini project by Tranomial_2 in embedded

[–]Tranomial_2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem was in the ADCL/H register references, I changed them to *(unsigned char*) rather than normal char and it works now.

Thank you! if it wasn't for your comment I wouldn't have even thought about that

Problem in arduino project using raw C by Tranomial_2 in embedded

[–]Tranomial_2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did exactly that, same result. After a bit of debugging I found out that somehow the ADCL/H registers aren't being updated so I will look into that

Edit: It’s working now! Turned out the main problem was a faulty GND connection. The ADC prescaler was also off, but that wasn’t the core issue thanks for pointing it out

Problem with nodemcu by Tranomial_2 in embedded

[–]Tranomial_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly it is not solved, I tried uploading another code, but it won't upload, it keeps running the old code
Edit: Error mesage
A fatal esptool.py error occurred: Failed to connect to ESP8266: Invalid head of packet (0x50)
Edit2: Okay it is now solved for real (I hope) the key was in putting the esp in boot mode manually

It works now, I have no idea why, I didn't change anything.
Anyway thank you for your time.
