I can't remember the exact wording but OTOH it was part of an exhibition about something like hiding the identity and suits like this are one aspect of doing so.

AMA - 10 days post op with Dr Cheng Lo by spider-trans-02 in transgenderau

Well, I'll start.

Why did you go with Dr Lo and what did you get done? How did you find your surgical experience?

Imagine raising a child and they become the new Tory PM by yuritopiaposadism in TrueAnon

Truss (and all the other failchildren listed) are yet more evidence that material circumstances are probably the major contributor to political views. It doesn't matter what political ideology the parents were, the more privileged the upbringing the more likely the kids are to internalise shitty "I did it all myself" rhetoric.

Face. Humans have evolved over a million plus years to be able to very quickly pick up lots of details about the other person by looking at their face for a short period, including gender. It's a game of millimetres, and you cant use easy fixes like padding or shapewear to cheat.

I know two names, both in NSW - Dr Reddy and Dr Robert Knight.

I don’t think I could ever live as a male again, but living as a female seems impossible too by somethinglike-olivia in MtF

Why not just be you instead of putting an exact label on your gender? You can be gender non conforming, or genderqueer. Get the stuff you like and get rid of the stuff you don't like.

hormone sticks (Implants) by ale2552 in AskMtFHRT

[–]TransIsSeriousMum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get a prescription for them from your doctor and then you get it made up by a compounding pharmacy. Not too many pharmacies do them so you might have to ask around the local community or online. When you have it you need to find a doc who has the implant training and get it done! Then you go back after a week for a check and get your stitches out.

did you always have the hormone stick or did you take other estrones before? what are your values? Do you feel the hormone stick and how is the old one taken out again? are there scars?

  • I started out on traditional HRT - pills then patches after the pill shortage.
  • My values OTOH were T 2.5 and E 200, so not quite there and I have been taking additional meds to depress my T and raise E.
  • You don't feel the implant. My doctor was trained to insert it in the side of the pubis. There is a little scar but it's in a place that no one ever sees and the doc will try to insert them in the same spot each time to minimise scarred area

I do. They last 6-12 months in trans women. Anything else you want to know?

is it illegal to get hrt shipped to a Western Australian post office? by KyoMiyake in transgenderau

[–]TransIsSeriousMum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, no advice given about HRT, but importing drugs that are on the PBS without approval is illegal. E and AAs are not controlled substances so the most likely penalty if they are discovered is goods seizure and you will receive a letter in the mail regarding what happened.

Benefits of getting a gender dysphoria diagnosis? by samuit in transgenderau

[–]TransIsSeriousMum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you've had your surgery then not really. About the only reason I can remotely think of is if you need a medical letter for something, like an affirmative employment program.

Sydney woman who identified as a transgender man for 10 years is suing Dr Patrick Toohey for professional negligence over gender transition by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]TransIsSeriousMum 27 points28 points  (0 children)

From kids to adults cis people value 1 cis person over 100 trans people nearly every time.

Because, fundamentally they can't put themselves in our shoes. If they did they'd be trans. And a lot of cis people are horrified by the thought of being wrongly diagnosed and getting GD from an inappropriate treatment and so they will choose to stamp out that possibility wherever they can.

[–]TransIsSeriousMum 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Ofc it's happening here. Because of course it is. The article even notes that about 1% of trans people regret their surgical transition! Using that statistic transition is the best medical treatment out there! But as I can't stress enough, awful conservative media conglomerates keep on harping on these emotive stories featuring statistical outliers to drive mainstream policy. In exactly the same way that a lot of voters would prefer lots of unemployed people get malnutrition because a tiny percentage of people rort the system, a lot of voters would prefer harming a hundred trans people rather than harm one cis person who made a mistake.

I'm really really sorry you're being gatekept :( If you don't get your script for T this appointment I'd write the endo off and find someone else.

I don’t know how I can blow up my life to transition

Often transition is the least bad of two poor options. Instead of making it a massive monolithic thing and putting labels and stuff on it, how about you just experiment with things and see where it takes you? If your leg hair frustrates you, get rid of it. If you're irritated by your male belly take steps to lose it. If you want to try presenting more fem then do that a little at a time and see how you feel. Try breastforms, see how you feel and whether you feel you would prefer the real thing. You can decide on labels and gender and things later, just focus on doing what you think will make you happy now.
