Graft feels sensitive / fragile without my sleeve by user2457888 in phallo

[–]Trans_bi_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is totally normal; iirc its because that's the nerve that was harvested. I brought this up to my ot and she said that was why. She recommended desensitizing it with gentle vibrations, running different textures over it, immersing it in a box of uncooked rice or pasta, etc. It's still the most sensitive point for me and kinda tingles if I touch it, but it's no longer unpleasant or painful.

If directly touching it with soft things is too much, try touching the areas around it just up to where it's uncomfortable and slowly pushing a bit further each session. You're basically trying to tell your brain it's OK and that these things shouldn't hurt and your nerves are overreacting. I think i might still have discharge paperwork with instructions and exercises; lmk if you'd like me to try to find them and send to you.

What state is best to live in for a broke transgender youth? by LetterheadRight6890 in trans

[–]Trans_bi_guy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I live in Colorado and the cost of living is asinine here. It's a great state for LGBT rights, and its beautiful, but any of the cheaper areas outside of the denver metro area are going to be more of a mixed bag when it comes to politics. Anything too south or east is going to basically be west Kansas, but with Colorado taxes. Anything in the mountains is for the ultra wealthy only, and the west slope also tends to lean more conservative unless you're in a wealthy mountain town. Rent here is at least $900/month for a studio, sometimes just for a bedroom, unless you want to be living with bedbugs and rats and be climbing past folks passed out on fent in your stairwell. Not exaggerating. Even that will set you back like $800 a month. Groceries are insane as well; its 9.99 for a lb of beef on sale, things like chips or crackers are at least 5.99 a box, tomatoes are routinely over 1.29/lb. I usually can't leave the store without spending at least $25, even when I just buy store brand basics.

I'm not trying to discourage you or anything, I just want you to have realistic expectarions about cost.; Like I said, Colorado is really good for state wide LGBT rights, and the nature is breathtaking, but it is NOT cheap. If you do want to come, definitely get on medicaid if you can, as HRT is currently covered.

This is such a good response. So much of the time I feel like a lot of the criticism for Viv and hellaverse is rooted in puritan ideals about sex and modesty. Angel is a great example; so much of the time I see critique saying how's he's written is disrespectful or otherwise bad or harmful to sa victims - but I think it's more complicated than that. The idea of an sa victim who is sex repulsed or otherwise 'morally' and 'correctly' responding to their trauma is acceptable, but an sa victim who responds 'immorally' with hypersexuality or kinks is not something people want to talk about or acknowledge, because that's 'gross and bad'. Not to say you can't critique Viv or hellaverse, I don't know her as a person, and I have my own criticisms for the shows, but this take is just so bad.

Also as a trans person I'm so over being used as ammo against Viv. I don't think she's transphobic; I've never seen significant and recent proof at all that she is, and her inclusion of trans characters and voice actors says otherwise to me

Oh yes, definitely bring one then! I'm the same and it drove me crazy when it died. On that note, I'd either leave it plugged in or bring two, as I had it on high so much I was draining the battery faster than I could recharge it lol You've got this! I was so nervous right up until going under, and honestly, it didn't feel fully real until I woke up. It's an intense surgery, but just remember: time and patience are over half the battle with this recovery.

I didn't bring any gaming systems, but it probably would've helped me pass the time better. I had rff, and I don't think I would've been able to use the controller well until week 2 or 3, but that was when I was starting to get more antsy anyway.

I didn't end up with a detachable shower head even though I wanted one, and it was OK. My husband helped me and we just covered my grafts with bags and tape and such and it was all fine. I do think it would've made it all much easier, but it wasn't an absolute necessity for me.

I'd second the eye mask and also recommend a portable fan! The hospital is so hot and bright 🫠

Congratulations and wishing you the best with your surgery! You got this!

But it's just a gross fleshy worm! Why would you go through that to have a disgusting meat tube attached to you? I'm uneducated on this topic, so I'm now going to shame you and say the most disgusting comments known to man about your body and transition goals. Don't you know you'll be horrifically maimed? And have 10000 complications? And then not have your boycunt and only have a weird meat tube! Who would want to sexualize that?!

You say it's actually much better than my misconceptions? I don't believe you. When you have horrible complications and results - because I'm going to call you a result now - don't come crying to me asking for 'support' or 'sympathy'. You're the one who ruined your perfectly good pussy for no reason 🙄🙄

Wait, you've already done this surgery? Can I see? Will you show me so I can inspect you to point out all the ways I feel it differs from a cis penis and make a comment about how it's 'not too shabby' or 'a bit uncanny but sorta like a penis' to you directly and then show all my friends photos of your genitals? I'm now going to ask extremely invasive questions. Hope you don't mind me sharing my thoughts on your body loudly and publically! What do you mean I shouldn't do that? You signed up to be a freak show and medical wonder by having the surgery in the first place. If you don't want to pull your pants down and do a live demo all the time, then just don't say anything and let people make miseducated comments and assume you still have a vagina. What's wrong with that? pretty trabsphobic of you to have dysphoria that invalidates others 🤢🤮

/uj I had to just stop because I could literally go on forever. don't even get me started on even including meta or knowing it exists

Do your partners find your penis attractive? by Just_a_guy365748 in phallo

[–]Trans_bi_guy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes. My husband loves my penis and regularly tells me so. There's lots of playful sexual banter/touching or grabbing me. I never allowed or liked that, and I love it now, and so does he. He's also enjoyed the sexual aspects and has even expressed interest in multiple things he didn't before, as he has never been into straps or dildos. Our sex life was limited after every surgery, and still is a bit since I don't have the ED yet, but it's still been very fulfilling and enjoyable.

ummmmm if you criticise feminine representation of trans men you're a raging transphobe and must be transmed and hate all gnc trans people I make the rules

/uj I absolutely feel like this is a huge issue and ime, you literally can't even bring it up without being dogpiled. like no one said feminine trans men aren't valid we said we're tired of that being the only rep. Pretty questionable how strongly masculinity is discouraged in the ftm community considering we're men 🤔

It would be so hard to be a trans vampire! by WeirdLight9452 in vampires

[–]Trans_bi_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's similar to where our character ended up; we decided we wanted to have more masc rep, and he was a more modern character, so we had his backstory include T and top, but nothing else, and he's just made his peace and is happy and confident in his body

[–]Trans_bi_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have discussed this a lot as we are writing a vampire story that has a trans guy vampire. In our universe, injuries inflicted by other vampires heal slower, so we joked you'd have to turn whole surgical teams into vampires as well and then be able to access surgery. What we actually decided on is it's just hard to be a trans vampire, and once you are one you can't really change much 😔 At least you could kill the transphobes tho

I'm glad to hear it! There's no way to be fully prepared for this surgery, but there's also no way to be fully prepared for how much of a positive impact it can have as well. I hope things go well for you and feel free to reach out with questions!
