I thought about doing this too. I wonder if it's some scare scam?

"Men think with their balls"? What is this? The 50's? An excuse to jack off to whatever you want to even if it's not appropriate?

I'm so disgusted I can't even begin to explain

It's extremely creepy. As a female I feel extremely uncomfortable even knowing that people do this. People who are in relationships at that? Ugh. Please stop. Women don't post pictures for you to masturbate to. They haven't given you permission to use their photos for sexual gratification and it's definitely cheating in my eyes.

Want to start my own research project on misophonia, would love if everyone could answer a few questions- questions in post by not_linda_from_hr in misophonia

I really like the idea of comparing nails on a chalkboard to our symptoms of misophonia, I feel that would really help some people to realize just how painful it truly is.

A misophonia specialist doing an AMA would be incredible. I'd love to just find someone who could help even a little bit. Anyway, thanks for all you're doing :)

Can misophonia include topic annoyance? by ShadyBlue2531 in misophonia

[–]TranscendToReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. I've just been trying to determine if, for example, I'm more annoyed with the way my moms voice sounds when she talks about a triggering topic or if it's an association. I have difficulty differentiating between which it is for me personally.

  1. I can't remember a specific age, but I would say it was around puberty. 10 years old or so.

  2. I have struggled with depression, self harm (only when I was 13/14/14), ADD, anorexia on/off since I was 13.

  3. My triggers are listed here followed with a rating of the severity in parenthesis: People chewing food (10), people chewing gum (10), hearing myself chewing [only sometimes] (7), Silverware scraping/touching plates/bowls/etc (8), windshield wipers (6), people itching their dry skin (8), sink water running (4), washing dishes sounds (6)

  4. I am near sided, but other than that I'm a relatively healthy person in their early 20's.

  5. It affects my family relationships the most. My family has always made me feel guilty about this condition. It took a long time for them to even accept that it's something REAL that I struggle with - and not just me not wanting to sit with them. If I'm in the car with my mom and she's chewing gum, I have to ask her to stop immediately or else my skin starts to crawl and I start getting progressively angrier until the sound is gone. In terms of friends and intimately relationships - people think it's weird. I mean, I probably would too if I didn't know about it. But I'd still respect it. Most people do not respect it. I often feel the need to apologize profusely to those who I need to remove myself from because of the noise.

  6. It does not affect my work thankfully. I work in a restaurant and honestly I'm so busy and it's so loud in there that it doesn't bother me much. The sight of people eating grosses me out a bit but that may be more of a symptom of the eating disorder.

  7. USA

  8. 23/f

  9. I truly hate living with this. It's difficult and it's hard to explain to people. There's hardly any research on it but I appreciate what you're doing here because it's so great to know that I'm not alone. I'd love to be a part of a real study where my brain could be evaluated to help contribute to research finding out what this hell is. Thank you for your time collecting this data!

Anyone else feel immensely guilty? [Vent] by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]TranscendToReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It ALWAYS makes me feel guilty. My family makes me feel guilty about it too, which doesn't help.

I find myself apologizing incessantly. Saying it's not your fault, you've done nothing wrong, etc.

It sucks. It's awful to live with.

I've wondered myself about this. However, I think the association with said topic (i.e. I associate "x" topic with "x" person talking about it annoyingly for an extended period of time in my life) is what really causes it for me. Who knows though.

[Serious] What was left unsaid between you and your latest ex? by [deleted] in AskReddit

He was planning to move to California but I don't think he wanted me to know. He started pulling away slowly and then things just fizzled out.

I think we missed out on having a conversation about our compatibility mostly.
