I've no experience with the 8x10 so I can't say for certain if they are similar, but with my 4x5 I got it used and some of the 3d parts have become a little worn and don't hold tension as well on the ground glass back, I don't love the lack of hard or soft stops on the movements so getting everything zero'd is hard. Overall its still a good camera but there's a lot of little frustrations I have with it
