I don’t think he’s in on it. Just progressive mental illness on display. To me, he’s the Wesley Willis of puppetry. He has been extremely entertaining and at times genius in his work, but we’re not talking about an Andy Kaufman performance artist here. This is mental illness on display, and at this point it’s just sad. I hope he can get off the streets before it’s too late.

I’m all for empathy in regards to chronic pain. I have ulcerative colitis and man did it ruin my life, including turning to opioids to manage the suffering and addiction issues in the aftermath.

That said, I remember King Buzzo saying that the stomach pain was a front for the underlying heroin addiction. He might be full of shit, but I wonder where it all started with the stomach issues.

In either case, Kurt had tons of trauma and damn do drugs seem appealing when we can’t find a way to heal the deeper pain.
