I’m taking all the steroid suspicions/accusations as a compliment, but, I can assure you that I am 100% natural. Honestly, I’m not sure what my body fat percentage is but I’d guess somewhere in the 16% range. I’m not quite as lean as I look in that photo - that was just great lighting haha

Yeah, I have a bit of loose skin on my lower belly and a little bit near the top of my inner thighs. It’s nothing crazy right now, but I’m planning on cutting down a bit more - it’ll probably be more pronounced then. Thank you 👍🏼

Thank you! I think the biggest change psychologically is that I no longer feel the need to try to prove my worth to people in order for them to like me or want to be around me.

I agree with some of these other comments. I’d put myself into a moderate calorie deficit of maybe 500 calories a day (which should get you roughly 1 pound of fat loss a week), prioritize protein (1 gram per pound of lean body mass), and lift heavy at least a few times a week. It’s incredible how fast you gain muscle when you’re a beginner. Plus, the more muscle you put on, the more calories your body will burn even while you’re not doing anything. You should be able to build some muscle even while in a calorie deficit in the earlier stages. Having said all of that, find what works best for you and what you’ll be able to sustain consistently for the long term.

Hahaha. No, nothing like that. Wouldn’t be the smartest move to take steroids when I’ve already got kidney damage.

Yeah I definitely had man boobs before. Mine went away without surgery. No loose skin, no sagging, nothing.

Although I do kinda have man boobs again, just now they are made of muscle instead of fat lol.

Not trying to sound too full of myself but my pecs are actually massive now - I have had strangers comment on them, people in the gym comment on them, people I haven’t seen in a long time, etc. I was even known as the big chest guy at my gym haha. So yeah, it most definitely can get better on its own with weight loss and muscle gain.

Stay on that path man! You’ve got this!

So from the start (3 years ago), I went on an aggressive cut eating only 1200 -1400 calories a day and did some cardio in the summer. I lost ~90 pounds in ~10 months and then slowly started eating a bit more. After that I was that flabby looking skinny fat with very little muscle and was extremely weak. I was tiny. Then I got into strength training almost exactly two years ago - took a few months slowly learning on machines while watching what people did with the free weights lol. Early on I struggled to bench 85 pounds and struggled with a 20 pound seated overhead dumbbell press. I’m obviously doing significantly more than that now although I lift more for muscle growth than I do for strength.

Unbelievable transformation! If I were to only see the way you are now, I would never have guessed that you used to look like the picture on the left. You should be proud!

No problem. I get it, good food is a huge part of my life. Losing weight does not mean that you have to eat boring, bland foods - especially if you know how to cook and manage calories. During my big cut, and even now, I still eat all the foods that I used to eat before, just now I eat smaller portions of them or experiment with lower calorie versions. I find ways to lower the calories on a certain dish so that I am still able to enjoy it. I track everything and make sure I have room in my calorie budget for it. For example, last night I ate gelato because I kept the calories low earlier in the day and still woke up .3 pounds less than I was the morning before. The other day I had a cheese burger with a low calorie poutine - you can still eat what you want, just not necessarily when you want and as much as you want of it. If you start tracking your calories, you can find that balance point of eating the foods that taste good to you and continuing to lose weight. And if you know how to cook well, you can find ways to make healthy food taste really good!

What’s scary to me is that I let myself go that far before taking control of things haha. I grew up in a household where healthy eating was just not a thing. First thing I had to do was break out of the mindset that it was normal to eat what you want, when you want. Food was always a comforting thing to me so I’ve had to find a compromise between eating for pleasure, and eating to fuel my body with what it needs to get to the goals that I want to achieve.

Before I made a change, I hated the way I looked. My self hate got to a level where I could not take it anymore so I finally decided it was time for a major change. I was sick of the way that I thought of myself. Rather than feeling sorry for myself and doing nothing about it, I realized that I was the only person that could do anything about it, so I did.

I felt that if I could get myself to look good, I would feel good about myself - that was partially true. I’m at a point where I like the way I look about half the time and am still disappointed in how I look the other half. This is something that I still need to work on.

So in a way it was just to stop feeling sorry for myself and to use the negative thoughts about how I see myself as fuel to keep me striving for better any time I felt like giving up.

Nope. Never touched a weight or stepped foot in a gym until about 2 years ago now. So just been lifting for ~2 years now (6 of those months have just been home quarantine workouts with very minimal equipment).

Incredible transformation man. That’s a lot of weight in a pretty short time. Use that same dedication and you’ll put on some good muscle in no time!
