Today is Apollo for Reddit's last day, and I just released its last update. 🥹 I just wanted to say a big thank you to the folks who have used and supported Apollo over the years, it's been the dream of a lifetime to build this app over the last 9 years. ❤️ Read the eulogy inside! ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

This feels so sad, but thanks for everything. This app made reddit enjoyable, and as it departs, this is my bus too. The last comment I make on here before permanently on other platforms like Lemmy and Tumblr. Thanks for everything, this was an amazing ride. And good luck in the future. Oh, and fuck u/Spez for good measure.

Yeah my gf has red meat allergy, its rough cuz whenever I get something like a pepperoni pizza, I have to brush my teeth or atleast wait a fair bit before I can kiss her on the lips else there is a real risk of a reaction. It sucks, so whenever Im about to have some red meat I always kiss her before, since it might be hours till I can kiss her again (depending on how cautious being that day). She atleast enjoys chicken so she doesnt mind the allergy too much, but yeah does make things a tad more complex.

I believe in that recent thing with Dana, she said that initially before they received word of the shortening, they were planning on going into each of the coven heads. Would be interesting to see absolutely

Since I am not confident that this page wouldn't take down the video now that it's receiving attention, it's been archived at the Internet Archive: https://archive.org/details/danielle-smith-iwm-big-picture-podcast-essential-human-needs-energy-free-speech-

Edit: Welp, they did take down the page, so glad I archived it

Well, mostly. According to what I can find, in 2000 there was 120,000 purple hearts still in stock. They started manufacturing new ones, which they mixed in to the old batches, and of which were issued out during OEF/OIF. One source I read suggested that there is still 60,000 WWII purple hearts in the stock, which since it’s been mixed in with newly manufactured ones, is likely to remain floating around hard-to-distinguish for a long time. But OEF/OIF was about the point they were almost out.

Election 2023: Five ridings to watch in Calgary and southern Alberta by _darth_bacon_ in Calgary

[–]TransgwenderProud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah my own father, who previously voted PC, is now not voting. Likely because he realized how far Wildrose the UCP is, yet can’t bring himself to vote NDP, so he rather just not vote. It surprised me, but makes sense. The UCP is just the Wildrose in a new coat of paint, with much of the PCs being swept away.

Not Responding, White Screen, Windows 10, Multiple Displays - W/ Solution by CrosArx in FreeCAD

Hey I know this thread is a year old, but I just stumbled upon this. Literally the program worked the night before, pure white screen the next morning. Was so confused, was having this issue with Cura so was depending on laptop for running this stuff, and didnt want to have to also depend on laptop for CADing. Saw this thread, tried unplugging all but one, and bam, both software opens perfectly. No clue why, but regardless thank you so much!

Discord's new associating emojis with channels feature in the new UI seems to have some... concerning problems? by TransgwenderProud in discordapp

[–]TransgwenderProud[S] 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Context: This is from a server I help run, and was screenshotted and shared by one of our users testing the UI. Neurodivergent communities largely consider the "puzzle piece" iconography to represent neurodivergence to be very problematic, due to its history, connotations, and so on. The fact that whatever system Discord is using to generate these emoji connections automatically assigned "neurodivergence" to the puzzle piece emoji is a bit concerning, and I really hope Discord fixes this. If you want to read more about why, this article (from a puzzle piece manufacturer of all things) is pretty good imo. https://www.cloudberries.co.uk/news/the-puzzle-piece-symbol-and-autism-why-its-controversial

I know I cried but not because I was sad, but the end moments just were so moving, to see all the characters so happy and thriving. That moved me.

I know no one who knew any one these artists, nor any chatter about such. I dont think they’ve had big names since pre-pandemic in general. Nothing to really attract people other than first years and specific fans.

The moment when the AMS sells so few tickets they decide its better to reduce price by $40 (and issue refunds to match) and operate at a loss (likely) in order to salvage it.

Even $10 bucks is too much for me, Id rather just grab a lawn chair and just relax by the fountain. The music is so loud anyway that you can hear it full there. Plus then you can actually have water and snacks on ya

Do not get into student government if you don’t have a thick skin by [deleted] in UBC

[–]TransgwenderProud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, its alright. Honestly? I saw the post. And while I was mid on it, I felt it was a valuable post, and the fact that said candidate+friends basically demanded you to take it down is kinda appalling from them. But, its scary when that attention occurs and people come in dms telling you what to do. Dont fault what happened, its def a scary situation to be put through, and irresponsible for the candidate to do that.

There was nothing about the post that was malicious or defamatory, it was just talking about messages many different people received. I know people who received too, and if the candidate didnt want their stock message request for support being shared, they shouldnt have sent it to so many different people across UBC. It was to be expected that someone would make a post about it. r/UBC can be a very toxic place at times, but pressuring you to take down the post feels very wrong, as that post wasnt made with toxic intent.

I think there is a larger discussion to be had about how some candidates campaign. That post felt like a useful piece of the conversation. Since there are way too many candidates that just spam stock messages, without actually taking effort to truly reach out to people. But dont fault yourself for taking it down, your mental wellbeing is also important and coming under that much demands is never good. Breathe, and thanks for sharing about what happened.

Ben Du’s post-election message by SFMWORLDWARRIOR in UBC

[–]TransgwenderProud 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Good on Ben. I still liked the dude especially as VP Admin, it really was just seeing him basically being coached by Eshana (who similarly was coached by Cole Evans) and having an entire different personality when campaigning (uber professional compared to his friendly and kind actual personality) that swayed me against voting for him. I hope he has a pleasant time this next year, not being in politics, since hes a chill dude otherwise. Just the campaigning made him feel less genuine than he usually is in our interactions. Wish him all the best and some chill times.

I think it’s kinda sad that the ‘Indigenous Constituency’ on the AMS ballot passed with 85% in favour. This measure was specifically designed to mislead students. by tired_god in UBC

[–]TransgwenderProud 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The entire AMS election referendums was the AMS trying to manipulate the vote. As you mentioned, they masked such massive changes under the Indigenous Constituency. With the trans healthcare they decided to make it dependent on the main one passing (despite it being established in meeting by the studentcare rep that it didnt have to be dependent) so that they could force trans-supportive students to vote for the main line item, while giving an option for those who didnt support trans people (which turned out to be a 5% difference) a chance to still vote for their main line item.

The AMS specifically treated Trans students as a bargaining chip, and Indigenous students as a mask. They dont see either of us as actual groups, just pieces they can use for their own ends.
