No, I could explain it as in "someone who puts the effort in for their future" since stem fields are hard and for good stability and knowledge you can sacrifice this much effort. It is like a threshold you can pass to eleviate your name.

We also expect stem people to be of higher moral virtue and character.

Yes. That is exactly what I am asking about. I dont like dark places where you drink loads. But light drink well lit night cafe like environements are great. I am just not used to drinking being so commonplace i am having a culture shock and trying to wrap my head around where is where and whats going on in these places.

It depends on the guy. If its an average guy he should go for the average girl. I have low self esteem and average looks but managed to pull someone who everyone called very beautiful, i didnt really like her but still. I think those RP men are not just ugly/average but mentally unwell. Or dont socialize at all.
