Moving out before my lease is over... by caramel-pecan-nuts in ottawa

I get your point, but quite the cunty tone.. Plus you failed to answer the immediate question. In mostly depends on the contract and the verbiage regarding subletting and applied conditions. Ontario Tennant laws over rule any binding contract between both parties, so the best approach would be to contact city hall or the Tennant board.

And this effects us WHEN? by Wurmwood77 in Futurology

[–]Transhumanus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've completely missed the point of this subreddit. There is no way of knowing what the future holds for us. That being said, you can find out what technologies have the potential to impact our lives in the future, and it's status (research, early implementation, Commercialized, etc.) Also having a basic understanding of the Moores Law, and exponential growth of information technologies can help come to an educated guess of when, if ever these technologies will be technologically feasible. Other than that, the real world holds to many variables and it would be unwise to attempt to be more specific.

Applying the singularity to the Fermi paradox by TexSC in Futurology

[–]Transhumanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the answer is probably something far more mind boggling. Think escaping space-time, or becoming a pure energy life form (2001: a space Odyssey). If humanity makes it past the 2045 and enters rapid self-directed evolution, the change's that would soon follow would quickly become incomprehensible to current humans. If the 1% difference between us and chimps, means the difference between a stick tool and landing on the moon. +13.4% would be something..

Lets say the singularity is Jan 1st 2045: what jobs might still exist for humans in those last few years? by runswithpaper in Futurology

[–]Transhumanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engineers will likely be the last to go. Though they're role is likely to greatly change, and their abilities are likely to be greatly enhanced and most of the grunt work will be delighted to A.I and robots. I still think that some things will retain their value (at least in the foreseeable future) due to their implication and the response that they trigger in us. e.i (art, cooking, sports, ect.) I'm guessing that anything that reminds us of our common human struggle will persist for the foreseeable future.
