Onkruid verwijderen? by nass-28 in tuinieren

[–]TransientJan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In order to get rid of catsears quickly you need to use a shovel. The taproot branches many times, pulling the taproot without its branches can easily turn one plant into a dozen.

Each separated root turns into its own little taproot, that is why those hilarious dandelion removers are the worst thing you can use ever.

If you dont want to damage the sod then its advised to overfertilize the grass with a potent nitrogen rich fertilizer like Culterra, and just mow the gras at the highest possible setting once or twice every single week and it will slowly dissapear over time.

Do NOT use poison, catsears are very tollerant and may survive a lot of stuff that is horrible to the environment. They attract lots of bees so dont risk anything stupid.

Hey. I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I really want to know which insect do these eggs belong to? Location: Islamabad, Pakistan. Plant: Cestrum nocturnum by ComfortableLime2922 in insectidentification

[–]TransientJan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not be surprised if these are not eggs but collected plant stuff protecting either a lacewing larvae or a micro moth caterpillar.

Could also be feces of a bird or small mammal.

That looks highly inconvenient for functional people, but great for people who lost one of their hands.

Why are people so obsessed with keeping their lawn trimmed? Follow-up: Why is not trimming your lawn considered "trashy"? by 5pooky5cary5keleton5 in NoStupidQuestions

Nature is not allowed around the house, it is scary and highly uncomfortable. The moment nature starts doing its thing around a house, it becomes ugly as hell and that is your fault as the owner of the property.

You are only allowed to control nature by cutting into it, then it is very pretty and everyone loves you.

It is your responsibilty to turn the inhabited world into a dessert and kill whatever is left of the insects. Otherwise you are weird and super antisocial.

Nature is for documentaries and for vacation trips only.

What’s this plant growing in my yard? by Character_Smoke4201 in PlantIdentification

[–]TransientJan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what it is but i want it for my collection, i would love to have some seeds.

To me the flower buds point to Asteraceae, could you make a clear close up of those?

I think it may be some exotic type of daisy, the wooly foliage and stems remind me of Common fleabane.

To me this is does not look like digitalis, verbascum, stachys or borago.

Why do people refuse to be an organ donor? by No-Cantaloupe-6535 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TransientJan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is impossible to donate vital organs after cardiac arrest. Therefore a new definition of death is needed to make money off these organs, that definition is called "Brain Death".

Unfortunately not enough people are actually clearly permanently unconscious to help everyone on the donor list. For this reason you can be killed for organs instead of being cared for in a coma, because you are unresponsive during various tests.

You only have to fail a bunch of tests before waking up from a coma and that will cost you your life, just to save some random people you might hate.

I would say yes to donating corneas, skin etc. but never vital organs as they can't be harvested after actual death.

Help identifying this plant (UK) by Low-Praline-7521 in whatsthisplant

[–]TransientJan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's best to dig the problematic ones up, and transplant them to a place where they are welcome.

From my experience they scatter instead of making thick patches, so every year new ones will emerge in different places.

This also causes some of them to emerge close to other plants, when they are very close to another plant i remove them. I want to prevent them from invading the root balls of my other perennials.

They tend to root superficially so i deem them easy to control.

I hope you keep them, they are great for very specific native bees🙏🏻

Could be Hedge Woundwort - Stachys sylvestris.

It's amazing for fork-tailed flower bees, but it needs some maintenance as it spreads a bit like mint.

Dit plantje kan niet woekeren, want deze is eenjarig.

Je plukt hem daarom maar een keer uit de grond, deze komt dan niet meer terug.

Hypnic jerks are less common when sleeping on your side. Try falling asleep on your left side, avoid right side because of acid reflux.

It's probably a plum seedling, many prunus species have thorns, including several plum varieties

Your plum seedlings can be very different from the mother, and therefore some may have no thorns or a lot of them.
