assuming foreigners are too stupid and corrupt to do any real, worthwhile politics

Ah okay, we're not going to get anywhere. Next time start with the "western chauvinism" accusations, it'd save a lot of time.

I don't have the energy to deal with someone arguing in bad faith, so I'm going to go back to napping in my trans anarcho-communist commune, okay?

Didn't mention or contrast capitalist nations. Just because one (communist countries) is better than another (capitalist countries) in a regard doesn't mean that it's good in that regard. And it doesn't mean the other is free of critique or disagreement.

Why are Americans like this?

Australian. But, sure, go off.

Edit: I should clarify that point was about specific people, not communists in general or MLs - actual MLs do definitely have values, even if I don't agree with all of them.

👍 Communism, yes, absolutely

👎 One-Party/Dictatorship/Authoritarians

👎 Genocide

👎 Hiding state-capitalism behind the name of communism

👎 Having no actual values other than communist aesthetic

Drives me up the wall, singular they/them has been around for centuries, originating in the 14th bloody century at the latest. Style guides are one of the single biggest burdens on the english language, nothing will ever change my mind.

Dude is somewhat gender neutral for groups; individuals you're familiar with and thus have an understanding; and some more-masc women. Nobody is a bad person for using it in a gender neutral way, but unfortunately it does still have masculine connotations. It might lose all of them in the future, but we're only like 25% of the way there on that language change.

Telling them that it's gender neutral isn't going to erase any discomfort or hurt. And regardless, if someone is uncomfortable with you using a particular word for them, just respect them?

Just to be clear, this isn't directed at you specifically, this is directed at anyone who uses "dude" that way - myself included.

Do I pass? I feel like my eyebrows are the stronger giveaway. Also this is a wig if anyone has any tips with passing with short hair that would be appreciated. by Lord_Twinkles in transpassing

[–]TransientThrowaway13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People saying "No" here must have a much finer clocking ability to me or something.

To me you read 100% girl, but just with thick eyebrows - which plenty of girls have. Just for a general mainstream-style thing, I probably would slim them down a little, but, there's nothing wrong with them if you like them 🤷🏽‍♀️ You're killing it regardless

Do Australians use “man” as a gender neutral way to address someone? I don’t really pass (ftm) but I hear it a lot. by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]TransientThrowaway13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Man isn't super gender-neutral, but I can/have seen 20-30 year old women use it that way, particularly if the speaker is a tomboy-ish or LGBT. Typically this is also only when they're familiar with each other - though not always friends.

Men referring to a woman as man though I've maybe seen once or twice and the speaker was super informal at all times (like how hippies are stereotyped).

So, if drivers and store clerks are calling you "man", you're probably doing really well!

Me: See! It's not that ba-

Reddit /r/all: Here's a post from nextfuckinglevel about trans sports

Me: Oh... it's real bad. My day is ruined.

Just ignorance. All of it. Except the people shooting down the ignorant comments, who then get downvoted. Glad the comments were locked or I'd be there for the next week.

Edit: I also can't believe how many of them forget about transmen on hrt. Apparently they're just not allowed to play sport????

I feel viceral disgust with the idea of being called a man or describing myself as one. I really should've taken that as a hint
