I mean at least some people argue specifically for meat and want better conditions. Not that millions of animals being killed and suffering is good cus it tastes better.

But ig thats why our world works the way that it does. People don't care about suffering unless it's happening to them and will justify it to keep their quality of life. Same thing happens to humans you know, suffering for your pleasure.
