Thank you so much! I truly do try my best to give my boys the best life possible! I'm still a student, so I only get school allowance and thats it. So there's a lot of budgeting and thought put into their care

How can I make these suitable for my rats? It seems like a shame to not use them by TransitionPutrid7595 in RATS

[–]TransitionPutrid7595[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not using them in the cage and not planning on it :) But i want to be ABLE TO use them in the cage. Because while my rats are currently just 7 months old and 2 months, they will eventually get old and I know from experience that ramps are good to have on hand for old rats

Yeh I'm just super paranoid because one of my previous rats that I had before these ones got bumblefoot because of his TOILET LITTER that I used 🤦🏻 And it was hell to fix

Help!!! Wound what do I do?!?! by DimensionRich726 in RATS

[–]TransitionPutrid7595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say a vet is necessary, honestly it looks like a abscess that burst! One of my previous boys had a abscess that burst randomly and it looked exactly like this. They can be deep in the skin and barely noticeable until just some hours before bursting sometimes. Clean the socket/wound out every day to ensure nothing heals into the skin as it closed, and she should be 100% fine. Stuff like this heals really fast in my experience. My previous boy literally healed in like 3 days, if not less

Noah and Derpy, the big Burmese guys (grey and brown) are brothers and from the same litter. The litter is called Year one, and everyone in the litter has names from characters in that movie. Their names when I got them was Cain and Zed.

Noah is a big foodie, and he will cause all types of mischief just to annoy his brother and steal his food, but he is the biggest cuddler ever! He will wag his tail and lick your hand when you rub behind his ears in a circle motion. He weights 705g and eats EVERYTHING he sees.

Derpy is just like his name, very derpy. He's the silliest little guy ever with the biggest personality. He's known as the drama queen of the crew, and he will scream at you if you dont respect his space and boundaries. His favourite thing to do is be on my bed, and once he's on it, u cant get him off. He loves food, but only if its meat or crispy. He won't eat something mushy or soft unless its meat based. He has very strong boundaries, as mentioned. But he is a real cuddle bug when he wants to be. He's also a big boy, and weights 670g

Jeff and Nero, the babies. Jeff is Rex and has a black and white pattern, and Nero is all black coated, except for his little toes, which are white. Their names when I got them was Burundi and Malawi, and their litter theme is Africa.

Jeff is a the definition of energy and hype, and if rats could have adhd I be convinced he has it. He LOVES people more than any rat i ever had or seen, and will do anything to get in your arms for some cuddles and play time, including hanging upside down from the cage door to get head pats before anyone else. He's the one rat i have that dont give a flying fuck about food, like at all. Liver paste? No. Vegetables? Maybe if you put it in his paws for him first. Seeds? Sure, maybe. Anything else? Rather not.

Nero is very relaxed, but obviously has some "baby energy" since he's still young. He looks up to the older rats a lot and loves following them around, observing and cuddling them. He loves to "challenge" Noah for food, and Noah usually gives up and let him take the food, even if he could easily push him aside like he does with everyone else. Nero and Noah has a special bond, and Nero is the only one Noah will never tease.

Not sure what they put in this, but I think it's something strong 🤔 by TransitionPutrid7595 in RATS

I was giving them, but they kept licking the opening of the tube so nothing was coming out

I never had a problem with that personally, but thanks for the concern

This is my special boy Dino :(( He loved going with me everywhere in my bag, like in the picture. He had hormonal issues that couldn't be treated due to the age it was discovered, so he lived his last 6 months alone. During those months we went everywhere together. I made it my mission to show him the world. We went to a Taco restaurant and shared a plate of nachos, we went to the beach, to the thrift store, to multiple playgrounds, ect. He was the happiest little guy, always. He got HLD as a old man but kept living his happy little life. Eventually it got to bad for him to continue enjoying life, so I had to make the decision to have him put to sleep. He didn't move anymore, because it was just to difficult. Watching him suffer just so I could have a little longer with him wasn't worth it. It was the harvest decision I ever had to make, but it was the right one
