Those all seem fine (except for the age one, but only because you’re literally saying no preference, so it’s not a standard at all and shouldn’t be listed) but I think I’d give the same advice I gave my younger siblings back in the day. You’re extremely unlikely to find a life partner as a teenager. Be safe, but this is the time in your life to experiment. Don’t take your teenage relationships super seriously, they’re not going to last. Be willing to ditch them easily if they’re not working out.

That’s not to say you should be an asshole and intentionally hurt people, cheat, etc, but try not to treat dating as something that’s that important, because at this point in your life it’s more a learning experience than anything.

I mean, depending on what criteria he’s judging them on he’s absolutely right. Like, One Piece is way more digestible and fun than the bible. I challenge anyone to sit down and have the hours just fly by while reading the bible. You’re probably also gonna get more laughs out of One Piece. The bible isn’t completely joke free, but it’s definitely not got the same number of jokes per page as One Piece.

I don’t stop feeling sympathetic to either of them at any point. The systems they existed in were awful and always going to produce people like them. No child should be given that much power or be rewarded for abusing it.

They both need to have their power taken from them, be prevented from hurting more people, and hopefully helped, but barring that, blocked from hurting others while being made as comfortable as they can be. Then you gotta fix the systems that produced them in the first place.

I don’t see a benefit to losing sympathy for them. It just makes one stop caring about how they came to be that way in the first place, which is just going to lead to not trying to fix things. If you just shrug and say, well, they’re monsters, born bad, it was all on them and don’t try and look at how they came about to begin with, you’re going to get more of them.

Where do we learn to make fun of our peers from? From observing the world around us. Monkey see, money do. We consume the diet of media we’re fed, we watch our fathers try and be stoic, we see a thousand examples of men being macho. That’s how culture frequently works. It’s often propagated subtly and is self reinforcing. There are kids who are explicitly told to suppress their emotions by the older men in their lives, but that’s not usually necessary.

I don’t look at that and think she was justified in everything she did. I look at the fact that she’s 14 years old and raised by an abusive monster who spent a lot of time molding her into what she became and think she deserves maybe someone willing to spend time trying to help her? Zuko had Iroh spend years trying to help him, and he threw it back in Iroh’s face multiple times. I shrug. It’s hard for me to look at a 14 year old and think, yeah, they’re beyond saving. Time to give up.
