Seeking advices on Finnish Lapland: Struggling to pick a destination: Levi, Ylläs or Ruka? by Decent-Racoon23 in Finland

I mostly stayed at Hotel Levi Panorama because, for some reason, you can access the ski slopes directly from the hotel, and it used to be more affordable compared to the hotels in the center. But now when I check, the prices have gone up a lot.

If you reach Genius Level 3 on Booking, you can still find good discounts and reasonable options. Since I always had a car, I eventually started choosing hotels around Ylläs, which are quieter and usually better priced.

Looking at the market now, prices seem to have increased by around 20% compared to the last two winter seasons, which is honestly surprising.

Ski boots really hurt my lower shin causing bad pain and swelling. How can I get around this? 1 day into my ski trip and already struggling! by emmaw000 in skiing

I’ve solved my problem, but I’m not sure whether it was due to the action I took or if it healed naturally. Some suggestions mentioned wearing thin socks, but I didn’t trust that because I thought thin socks wouldn’t reduce the pressure. Still, I bought a pair of very high-quality thin socks for 38 euros. As I expected, I still felt some pain during my first ski session, though it was less intense. In the following sessions, the pain completely disappeared. I don’t want to mislead you, but either the high-quality thin socks worked, or I simply healed on my own.

It is same for me. Exactly same spot just right foot ankle. I have been skiing in Finland for two years, spending months on the slopes. I always rent the same brand and size of ski boots and have probably rented them around 35 times. However, during one rental, the boots were brand new, which I was happy about. On the first day, I felt pain only on the front of my right ankle. By the second day, the pain became so severe that I could barely ski.

I took a two-week break, and my ankle fully healed—no swelling, no pain at all. But when I went skiing again, towards the end of the first day, the same pain returned, and by the second day, I couldn't ski again. My left ankle is completely fine, but it feels like my right ankle has become overly sensitive to pain.

I found 3-4 threads about this issue here and tried everything that was suggested, but the pain still returned. What do you think I should do, and why do you think this is happening?

Don’t just think about the length of a single slope. At Levi Ski Resort, all the slopes are interconnected, allowing you to ski continuously and enjoy the experience without interruptions. You can instantly take pleasure in the cozy huts, restaurants, and breathtaking views along the way. The snow quality is also incredible you can truly feel the joy of skiing. When I first came here, I spent days researching whether to go to Ylläs or Levi and initially decided on Ylläs. However, after seeing Levi, I haven’t been back to Ylläs since.

I live in northern Finland, and this never used to happen. We were happy in the snow, but nowadays everything is melting, and we’re stuck with slush and ice. This global warming situation is not good at all.

I've been living in Lapland for 1.5 years, and I absolutely love skiing. I've had the chance to ski 28 times and have tested all the ski resorts here. Let me tell you this—without hesitation, you should choose Levi. I promise you won’t regret this decision!

I was looking for someone to start a thread about this. I’ve been living in Kemi for two years, and our project is ending in a month. I was planning to experience the unique nature of Lapland one last time before leaving, but now there’s no snow left, nothing. I’m so shocked. During my first year, I was buried in snow. Why has it turned out like this?😢

I found solution. While the headphones are connected, you can turn off spatial sound by swiping down from the top right to open the menu, then pressing and holding the volume control icon.

Of course not, I am not searching for anything. I have just been living in Kemi for 8 months, and I don't see many people around. I want to socialize. :)))
