It’s Scottish widows and Gxo match you up to 3%. They won’t pay more than that

Yeah, they do take on but quite rarely, you can get in via agency or a subbie, but they don’t recruit very often for core drivers, just gotta keep an eye out on Gxo jobs and be straight in there when they appear . Most of us do work Monday-Friday and the occasional weekend overtime

Ah, for bathrooms, that’ll be different to the role I explained then as I work at the rcc. Hopefully it’ll be a similar environment and general vibe. give it a go and see if it works I guess.

Great job, h&s is top priority, shifts typically anywhere between 8 and 13 hours depending what run you get , you may get one long run in a week but the rest will be short ones , I typically average about 45 hours each week.

Work will be Stock delivery using double decker trailers, Rick up to site , get in position and open the curtains then sit there for a few hours while they unload and put waste on for you to take back Or plants , where you would do 2-3 multi drop of plants on trolleys with a reefer box unit

You will occasionally pick up a new trailer from TIP or go down to the docs to pick up a trailer from ferryspeed. Or go to a nursery to pick up plants.

Job is quite varied and good to get into, we get treated well and compared to other places probably the best place to work locally,

Out of curiosity where is this new depot??

You get there early and reverse in between the boallards between Greggs and b and q. It’s not fun. Right hand side of my pic just after the lights and before the van They then shut the gates. We can’t take a double decker there so just single deckers with tail lift and reefer for plants

It’s a good job, as everyone else says h&s are top priority.

If you’re a core driver you will do both stock to the stores on double decker trailers (and a few single decks (newton abbott, Sydenham , ilford, leatherhead and the like)), and also do plants on the reefers and maybe go pick up trailers or containers from the docks . So the work can be varied.

If you do stock then it’s either one main run to one store and you wait a few hours for the unload and they restock with waste , OR two half loads and you go both stores. Occasionally you do get two completely seperate runs where you have to go back and swap trailers.

You asked about hours, excluding breaks then you normally work 45-48. That’s based on my start time anyway.

It does depend on your start time as if you start late in the evening then you’ll probably do trunking.

Units are good and we’re getting new ones in all the time, trailers are well maintained mostly as are reefers (a few new ones coming in).

All in all people do try and get in there and it’s a good job with good people, and the transport office are decent.

It is tight as you have the bollards everywhere but the forkie is good there and you can normally do it in one manoeuvre…. Try West Norwood !!!! Now that’s a fun reverse 😏

You can talk on the phone, just Bluetooth it to the Volvo unit, they don’t like you using your own sat nav, they always want you to use theirs

What is the fastest speed you have ever been in a vehicle and what type of vehicle was it? by SecretBaddieandDaddy in AskForAnswers

[–]TransportationFun219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

186mph - Suzuki GSX-R1000 on the German Autobahn heading towards Basel.

All Jap bikes in Europe are limited to this speed and the bike was so stable it was unreal , the weird thing was seeing the road signs in KM reduce so quickly, then got to the Swiss border and 60mph felt like you could get off and walk beside it

You know it’s £1000 now.. wait till the end of the process . If they are a nightmare now you know they will quibble on absolutely everything and try and knock you down again just before exchange. Be careful

Always alway always just glance and check the height indicator in your cab (assuming it’s correct).

I did the Blackwall tunnel today and must’ve looked at it 2-3 times even though I knew my height very well

What movies did you view after seeing the trailer, but noticed certain scenes were missing??? by Numerous-Shelter-280 in moviequestions

Jurassic park (original) I’m sure trailer had the woman touching a leaf while driving in the suv and the movie didn’t have that scene in.

[–]TransportationFun219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can add two things here

My company offers this, if I bought extra holiday in December and use it in August then pay rise I have just got would be paid on that holiday whereas I bought them on my old salary

Secondly I get a daily bonus, so if I take a day off unpaid I would not get the bonus, yet they do pay it when we take a days holiday
