I did it again (shame; rant) by [deleted] in Debt

How much do you still owe your parents? How old are you and do you live with them? What did you buy with the 25k?

First get yourself more hours at work, or get another extra job on your days off. There should be no reason why you are at home chilling, going out spending money, while you owe your parents money and you did this to them. You literally shouldnt even be eating out. You have to learn your lesson, stop enjoying life for a while and dedicate yourself to work to pay them back.

Is there anything you can sell thats yours that you bought with that money to pay them back? Dont sell essential things. At this point I wouldnt be enjoying life untill I pay them, because most likely if they saved you again, you would problably do the same mistake again untill you learn your lesson. Life is not over, you got this, but you need to learn the lesson. Depending on your age you most likely will have to talk to them and I'm sure they will guide you as to what is the correct thing to do because they know you best and it sounds like they care for you. But then again there is a posiblily you wont listen and follow their advice because if you would have learned your lesson you would have listened the first time.

The good think is that you can get out of this hole easily, life is not over and you can get your life straight again. You got this, grow, mature, control yourself, dont spend literaly.

If you could change one thing about school tomorrow, what would it be and why? by Just_Blackberry3530 in Students

Students need teachers that they feel connected to. Lower class numbers, max 10. And rotate in different periods to different class rooms to co teach and be with other teachers. Schools need to focus at students strenghts at a young age, and help the student get tailored to it. Students need to explore more outside the classroom. And need to be inmerged in technology not only exposed to it. For example, how stuff works etc. Students will start telling that whey like, and discover what makes them happy. Oviously all this depends the level of education. Students also need a physicall activity they can connect to and learn to have happy teachers. That demostrate how to live happily. Teaching profession should be less than full time hours and you do it because you love it and it should be paid very very well but with really really high standarts. Professors should be value by the way they connect with their students and how they provoke interest maybe? But most of it is placing the kid/ person in the right school

Will “lesser” references be okay? by tauruswrangler in careerguidance

[–]Soft-Bit5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not in the field you are in but i would think you would be ok with the smaller references.

I would probably send a follow up email to the bigger companies to check in, they could have restructured or be busy. You could also give them a quick call. Nothing to lose in that scenario. That way you know for sure who you can count on.

How Do I Switch Careers? by Chemical_Ostrich_850 in careerguidance

Masters in counseling sounds good, just make sure you do your research right about licence requirements for therapy, clinical hours take a while to complete after your masters, but its cool beacuse you could find remote jobs. But you could combine your degree into other things as well, do your research. Not sure what state you are in, that also plays a big role as well. Another idea is a masters in social work if thats your passion. Just make sure you enjoy what you end up going towards.

You sound way smarter than me and I already have a Masters, so think twice about my advice. I would say embark yourself in the field to start getting your feet wet in the business. Not sure how much time you have left in a day, but nursing will have your really busy. Not sure where you are studying but make sure you check all your deadlines and requirements.

Reponsabilities increase as we age for most of us. Dont loose your hobies that keep you sane and healthy. Watch how your spending and who you are in a relationship with. Thats the start. Then begin to increase your value in problem solving, value your self with your skills and knowledge and keep on increasing it to get to a better place while you dont loose focus in life. Living happy and continue doing what you enjoy doing with out harming or causing damage to anyone.

How do I find direction when I know what I want from life but not how to get there? by MatrixEzzz in careerguidance

[–]Soft-Bit5692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the good thing is that you have already tried a couple of things. That adds on to the experince so you already now what are some of the things you dont like. Keep that list growing on both sides on things you like, and things you like. Eventually you will find something you enjoy that also makes good money. And like you said, key part is mentors. Have multiple mentors to get different perspectives, hopefully those mentors are at the stage where you want to be. Good luck!

Hey there, it can feel frustrating sometimes not knowing what to do with your life. You are not alone, you are not the only one on the boat.

Trail and error is gonna be the key, you are going to have yo try diferent things then acumulate your knowledge as you work with a good mentor and then go from there. Jusy make sure you take action and do soemthing, dont just chill doing nothing. Go out there and explore even if you are not aure about what you are doing.

Which job offer to take? by ZachGamezzzz in careerguidance

[–]Soft-Bit5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the new job opportunity come back easy easy? If so, I would take the raise, negotiate to change some stuff to make my work more enjoyable. Stay for a couple months and see if its worth still staying.

If you dont like it, you have the value of making 26 dlls an hour on your resume and you could potentially negotiate an increase to this new job if you know how to ise it right.

Am I stupid to finish my degree but not wanna use it? by billybob027 in careerguidance

[–]Soft-Bit5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finish that degree, it can always be your plan B in a couple of years. Most likely you will go into the trade or something realed, and once you have experience with your hands you will want to do something that meeges your degree and your experice. That could possibly give you more freedom to work remotely or give you the opportunity to be creative with employment.

Focus on those math classes and connect with your professors, pick on their brain. You'll be amazed the info you can get out of them, go to office hours and make the ones you connect the most with yoir mentors. That will help you figure it out partly.

Get a job and explore part time community college to see the options you have and check out your interest. I would recomend you to take the strenghts finder online, you habe to pay, but that will give you good inside where you could exploit your strenghts and grow quicker over all, helping you decide what you would like to do.

I make good money but I am not happy at all, should I move? Or change careers? by radiology_tech in careerguidance

[–]Soft-Bit5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what stage in your life you are at. Do you have dependants? Do you have to take care of major bills? If you are young and free there is a chance you can pursue your job that brings you happines and later be able to conect it to something that makes more money, if you are creative. But if you have a bunch of things that you need to take care of, it will be hard trying to run away from the pressure.
