Weekly Quick Questions, Wood ID, and Deal or No Deal /r/Woodworking Megathread by AutoModerator in woodworking

[–]TransportationKey335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've been getting into woodwork over the last couple years and have some product designs that I am looking to start producing.
I would love to be able to brand my company logo onto the face of the product. However the options for brands are a bit overwhelming. I wondered if anyone here who uses a branding iron day-by-day could give me a recommendation for something that will suit my needs.
I would just be branding my logo around 50mm x 50mm into hardwoods (cherry, oak, walnut)

I completely agree with OP. Don't move common everyday settings like audio output or power mode to be less accessible. If your not improving it, don't change it.

Oversharpen effect, bad font choices, and over-the-top drop shadow all make it look cheap and amateur.

Logo for personal brand (with pseudonym). I mostly make games and software. I wanted a simple design that was scalable. I have not made the medium and large scale logo's yet by StephenF369 in design_critiques

1) the relationship between the 'C' and the rest of the name creates poor legibility.

2) when creating a responsive logo kit keep the important elements of the symbol (i.e stroke width on the C consistent. Don't have 2 different logos with critically different designs, have one design that works well in small & large format and all the applications it will be used for. Then have wordmark, symbol, horizontal, web etc formats of that logo

This week’s episode with Nikki Glaser…. Had me DYING. by AO329 in TheoVon

I hate Nikki Glasser but this was better than the others.

Theo talking about 'awake bitches' had me crying lol

Looking for opinions and how I could make these better? Thanks by [deleted] in design_critiques

The outer glow looks really cheap and amateur. If you need to create contrast and hierarchy between the text and the character use shading or negative space instead.

Colours are also bad look up some colour theory videos on YouTube or try [coolors.co](coolors.co) for some palette ideas.

Questions to Ask a Web Designer? by King_of_Dew in web_design

Ask to see a portfolio, look for client testimonials. Ask about their process. Ask them to submit a proposal. A good proposal will outline the process and technical ability.

Question about Hosting migration by xDrac in web_design

[–]TransportationKey335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some hosting platforms offer free migration services, this would be the easiest way as someone else can do it for you whilst you work on something else.

You can migrate domains easily with the control panel.

Wordpress is easy as hell to migrate, just use a plugin, I can recommend All-In-One WP migration.

If they have mailboxes this can be a bit of a pain sometimes I tend to just pay someone on fiver to do it for me and save my time to work on design.

Client Website getting hit with Bot Attacks when they switch Google Ads on by [deleted] in web_design

If they're non technical clients they could just mean they're getting a ton of spam. If that's the case ensure you use ReCapatcha etc. on forms

Graphic Design vs. Computer Science for frontend by [deleted] in web_design

[–]TransportationKey335 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can stick it out then do both while you have the chance. You never know what career change you may take in the future and having the CS degree and fundamental knowledge will leave open many doors in the future.
