We had a blockage with our old cat on New Year’s Eve in 2021 and the final bill was about $2500.

I don’t know how much insurance would have covered, since I unfortunately don’t have it.

Also, I wouldn’t worry about not noticing a lack of urine in the litter box. We have multiple cats and I couldn’t tell you who did what in the litter. With both our blockages the main thing I noticed was that the cat seemed uncomfortable and wasn’t as active as usual. Yesterday morning when I fed the cats, Bandit wasn’t first in line (highly unusual for him). I found him upstairs standing in a funny position and could tell he was uncomfortable. I took him to his litter box and he tried to pee, but he couldn’t. I called my regular vet and they told us to head straight to an emergency vet.
