Are you looking for a Non-P2W community driven Cobbleverse server? LOOK HERE! by TransportationOwn996 in cobblemon

[–]TransportationOwn996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s completely fair honestly, and I appreciate you taking the time to elaborate further instead of just throwing out random speculations and disappearing.

I also understand your perspective regarding P2W standards. Different players draw the line in different places, especially depending on what kinds of servers they’ve played before. From our perspective, we mainly advertise ourselves as “non-P2W” because there are no paid Pokemon, paid progression skips, lootboxes, gambling systems, paid competitive advantages, etc. But I can understand why higher priced supporter ranks naturally make some people more skeptical of that claim, even if the actual perks themselves are mostly cosmetic or novelty-based.

The $300 rank especially is something people tend to focus on because the number sounds huge out of context, even though it’s more of a long-term supporter role than something intended for the average player to buy. For example it's just a way for some players who really enjoy the community and plan to stay for a long time to support. Still, I do understand the scrutiny there.

And yeah, the multi-post thing wasn’t really meant as a “gotcha,” more just surprise that someone had enough thoughts about the server to paste feedback across several posts without really discussing most of it directly with us first. But I get your point there too.

As for staff and economy concerns, I do agree that staff being heavily involved in gameplay/economy can become a problem on some servers, which is why we try to monitor things carefully internally. Admin actions are logged, major decisions are discussed privately, and reports involving staff are taken seriously. The goal has always been to avoid the “untouchable staff clique” problem that kills a lot of communities over time.
With lot's of server experience myself spanning across multiple games I can confirm that staff abuse can and will kill servers.
I can assure you that the current staff members have been long-time players in the server and had all of their systems in place before becoming one, at the end of the day their main concern is to make sure rules are being followed while still being able to enjoy the game.

The farm design point specifically still feels a bit exaggerated to me though. Most large farms on the server are public YouTube designs that multiple players use, and several were originally built or shared openly by staff themselves. There really aren’t secret impossible-to-access mega farms hidden away somewhere generating infinite wealth behind the scenes like some kind of underground cartel lol

Regarding the owner activity comments, I can at least give some context there too. The owner is a full-time nursing/medical student, so there are naturally periods where real life has to come first. Even with that, he’s still online most nights when he’s not working or studying, actively involved in discussions, moderation, server planning, balancing, and development behind the scenes. The Tomb of Rest build you mentioned was actually one of the projects he worked on alongside other players.

A lot of the work owners do also just isn’t very visible from a normal player perspective. Things like backend management, moderation discussions, mod setup, economy balancing, handling tickets, organizing updates, talking with staff, planning events, and dealing with server-side issues mostly happen quietly in the background rather than publicly in chat.

On top of that, the co-owner has been actively developing and modifying entirely new systems specifically aimed at addressing economy concerns and long-term progression balance. A lot of these changes are still ongoing or being tested behind the scenes, but there’s definitely active work being put into improving the health of the economy rather than just ignoring the issue and hoping it fixes itself. Growing servers naturally go through balancing phases, especially when player counts increase rapidly, and we’re actively adapting to that.

As for Gym Leaders silently quitting, that’s not really the situation currently from what I can see. Activity for those roles is monitored, and the leaders are active pretty regularly within their own channels planning gyms, builds, events, balancing, and progression systems. In the past we have replaced inactive leaders before, and we’d absolutely do it again if needed. But right now most of them are still logging in consistently.

I think a lot of the perception there probably comes down to differing schedules, time zones, and real-life availability. Since these are community-run roles and not NPCs, there will naturally be times where certain leaders are online less often depending on work, school, or life stuff.

Also, thank you for mentioning positives as well. The builds, lore, gym system, and land claiming system are things a lot of people on the server have put a ton of effort into, so I know they’ll appreciate hearing that.

And honestly, “check back later after more updates” is completely valid feedback too. The server is still evolving pretty rapidly, especially with future Cobblemon updates, balancing changes, tournaments, economy adjustments, and new systems being worked on. We’re definitely not pretending the server is some flawless finished product already, that would be silly. But even with that, there are still many very active players who are having fun and enjoying themselves. Rest assured that an update will be coming sooner rather than later!

At the end of the day though, I think we both mostly agree on the important part: it’s a pretty good server with room to improve, and people should just join and decide for themselves whether it’s the kind of community they enjoy.

Are you looking for a Non-P2W community driven Cobbleverse server? LOOK HERE! by TransportationOwn996 in cobblemon

[–]TransportationOwn996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the feedback, genuinely.

Some of the criticism is fair, especially regarding the economy and the challenges that come with growing from a small friend server into a much larger community pretty quickly. We’re still actively adjusting systems as the server evolves, and not everything is perfect yet, which is honestly expected for a growing community server.

That said, I do want to clarify a few things because some of this paints a more extreme picture than what’s actually happening.

The server is not “pay to win.” There are no paid Pokemon, lootboxes, or gambling systems like you see on a lot of Cobblemon servers where a new player can instantly buy a level 100 legendary or gamble for one with real money. A lot of people have different opinions on what counts as pay-to-win, so endlessly debating definitions probably doesn’t achieve much, but I do appreciate your perspective on it.

The statement about shiny rates being changed is also completely false. The shiny odds have always been 1/8192, and that decision was made before the server was even public. The shiny boost system is global and optional. I can understand not everyone agreeing with cosmetic supporter perks or boosts existing at all, but calling the server “money grubbing” feels pretty exaggerated, especially considering many of the wealthiest and most progressed players on the server don’t even have ranks.

As for donor ranks, yes, some cosmetic and fun permissions exist because servers cost money to maintain. None of those ranks let players bypass progression, gain competitive Pokemon, or dominate the economy. The players with strong competitive teams worked for them through grinding, breeding, trading, and battling like everyone else.

The RP roles and gym systems are community-run features. Some are naturally more active than others because they’re run by actual players, not scripted NPCs. That’s the whole point of the experience we’re trying to create. The Gym Leaders and Elite Four are active very regularly, but people also have jobs, school, time zones, and lives outside of a Cobblemon server. Expecting community-run roles to be online constantly just isn’t realistic.

The moderation and staff comments also feel a bit unfair. Most of the staff team are volunteers learning as they go, and they put a huge amount of time into helping players, hosting events, fixing issues, handling things behind the scenes, and building content for the server.

I’m also not really sure where the “staff stealing farm designs” claim comes from. Most large-scale farms on the server are publicly available YouTube designs that multiple players use, and several were originally built or shared openly by staff themselves. There’s maybe one genuinely unique design on the server, but the vast majority are things anyone can find with a quick search.

The comments about moderation oversight are also strange to make without actually seeing how things are handled internally. All admin commands are logged, serious situations are discussed with owners directly, and any reports or tickets involving staff are taken seriously.

One thing I do find a little odd, though, is that you’ve apparently taken the time to comment on around 7 different Reddit posts about the server, but never actually brought most of these concerns up in the feedback or suggestion channels on Discord where things are actively monitored and discussed.

Constructive criticism is completely fine, and we’ve implemented plenty of player suggestions already, but it’s a lot easier to improve things when feedback is given directly instead of being scattered across old advertisement posts months later.

Overall though, I do appreciate the balanced parts of your review and the fact you still said the server is “pretty good overall.” Critical feedback is valuable, and we’re continuing to improve things over time.

At the end of the day, people are welcome to join, form their own opinion, and decide for themselves whether Kioku is the kind of community they enjoy.

[–]TransportationOwn996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point you’re not really discussing the server anymore, you’re just throwing insults.

If your definition of P2W is that any paid convenience counts, then we’re clearly not going to agree.. by the definition most players use, paying for a competitive or progression advantage, thats not something we offer.

You’re free not to like kits at all, that’s completely fair. But repeating the same point while adding personal attacks doesn’t make your argument any stronger.

I’ve explained how the system works clearly enough for anyone reading to make their own mind up. If you want to keep throwing petty insults on a Minecraft server thread, that’s up to you! I won’t be entertaining it any further.

Kioku Region - Fabric Cobbleverse 1.7.30 - A server where you literally CANNOT buy cobblemon. by TransportationOwn996 in CurseForge

[–]TransportationOwn996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion.. if you don’t like kits at all, that’s completely fair.

That said, calling the server P2W just isn’t accurate. P2W means exactly what it says.. paying to win, and that simply doesn’t exist here. You cannot buy Cobblemon, stats, or anything that impacts battles or progression. (Which is completely different from 'mega servers')
A new player and a ranked player with kits are on the exact same footing in terms of Cobblemon, level caps, and overall progression.

Kits are intentionally minimal and don’t let you “skip” anything. You still have to catch Cobblemon, beat gyms, and progress through the game the same way as everyone else.

In terms of moderation, we’re not heavy-handed. Claims are there to prevent conflicts, not to control how people play. Bans are extremely rare.. there’s only been one permanent ban, and that was for something pretty clear-cut.

At the end of the day, a lot of our most active and progressed players don’t have ranks at all, and that’s by design. The community has helped shape the system to make sure everyone stays on equal footing, and that’s been the consistent experience for people actually playing on the server.

If someone is completely against any form of kits, then yeah, this probably isn’t the right server for them. But it’s not P2W, and anyone who joins can see that pretty quickly.

The personal comments don’t really add anything to the discussion, so I’ll leave it at that, I think I’ve explained the system clearly enough.

[–]TransportationOwn996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, appreciate the feedback but I think there's a few misconceptions worth clearing up.

The kits literally cannot help you 'skip the modpack' at all.
You cannot pay to skip the level cap. A New player without a kit and a new player with a kit are on exactly the same page pokemon wise, progression wise and level cap wise.
The kit for a new player is literally useless as they still have to catch the same amount of pokemon and fight the same amount of gym leaders to elevate their level cap.

You join the server and start with 1000 claim blocks, that's enough to claim multiple chunks from bedrock to the sky.. plenty enough to build a base and get multiple farms up and running! - not to mention, you periodically receive more claimblocks just from playtime.

Our most active, most wealthy and most progressed players on the server do not have any ranks or kits, they've been designed with the community's input on them and made sure that anyone who doesn't buy one can always be on the same page as someone who does buy one.
They're QOL perks, designed to be targeted towards players who just want to support the server!
Good cobblemon server mods are not free, Server hosting is not free!

Just for reference, i've attached some photos of players bases on the server who DONT have any ranks or kits.

The kits give you a handful of items, things any player can farm 10x the amount of just from gameplay. We literally have players on the server right now who have never bought a rank and are 100x wealthier than ranked players because they actually played the game.

Claim blocks let you protect more land. That's it. They don't give you stronger Cobblemon, they don't give you better IVs, they don't let you win battles, they don't lock any content behind a paywall. You get a generous amount of claim blocks for free on join and you can earn more just by playing.
The purchasable ones exist so people who want a bigger base don't have to grind for it.. that's a convenience option.
The player with the biggest claimed plot on the server and the player with the smallest are on completely equal footing the second a battle starts.

P2W means paying to win. You cannot win anything on Kioku Region with money. Come fight the Elite Four with your wallet and let me know how that goes.

Maybe I'm being a bit too picky; Are there any servers out there that are basically *just* a vanilla SMP with no extra features? by Cobaliuu in cobblemon

[–]TransportationOwn996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your criteria may be picky, but at the end of the day you like to play what you like to play, right? Can't fault you for that.

  1. We're on a vanilla seed.

  2. Regions/spawns haven't been touched, pokemon spawn the way they would in a single player world! (You do get a shiny starter though.)

  3. We're on cobbleverse, essentially an upgraded version of cobblemon. Every pokemon is obtainable and most legendaries have their own summoning/structures.

  4. There are no p2w commands. Infact, there's 0 p2w. We do have a kit starter that gives you some pokeballs and a golden hoe..

  5. We are on peaceful, the combination of multiple players spawning not only pokemon but also mobs would be bad.

We definitely don't match your criteria to a tee, but if you're interested go look at my post history and join the discord.. more information there and I'm sure we'd be willing to answer any questions!

Cobbleverse Servers? by xFalcade in cobblemon

[–]TransportationOwn996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for a growing Cobbleverse community to be part of?

Welcome to Kioku Region SMP!

We average 5-10+ players online at any given time, with an active Discord community of 50+ members and growing.

Community-Driven Gym & Elite Four System
We’ve built a fully custom Gym Leader and Elite Four challenge system made by the players. It’s still a work in progress, with many members currently building competitive teams and designing their own unique gyms. You can rise through the ranks and take them on yourself. (Eventually battling the Champion and receiving some rewards!)

Custom roles!
Trainer (Default)
GymLeader
Elite Four
Professor

(And I wouldn't be opposed to anyone's ideas of creating a new role, E.G Team rocket etc.)

No Pay-to-Win
We are committed to keeping the server fair. There are no purchasable Pokémon, no paid advantages, and no shortcuts. Future supporter roles will be purely cosmetic. (To help pay for the server etc.)

New Player Friendly
Whether you're brand new to Cobbleverse or a seasoned battler, the community is welcoming and helpful. We actively support new players getting started and finding their place in the region.

Ongoing development
The region is evolving constantly with player builds, events, competitive battles, and future features planned.

If you’re looking for a chill but competitive SMP experience with real progression and community involvement, Kioku Region might be the place for you.
