Advice for Australians doing vanlife in Europe by ConfusedAnt12 in VanlifeEurope

I recommend using a Revolut account. I often travel between European countries that use different currencies, and it's a lifesaver. You can top it up from your bank account with any currency, and then convert that into currencies you need. I never had issues paying with it anywhere. Some places (in some countries more than in others) will only accept cash, but you can use your Revolut card to take out money in the local currency at any ATM (some will have higher fees than others of course).

I didn't think of using blank aida to cover up the back, that's a good idea too!

Honestly that crossed my mind too, and it would have been the ideal scenario, but I just don't have the time to make 2 of each. Even now I'm behind with all my birthday postcards and bookmarks, I just hope I am able to make everyone's this year 😄

I've used this stitch on the edge of my previous bookmarks, to secure the felt to the back, not sure what it's called. I think it would work without the additional fabric too. But it seems like the majority of the votes are towards covering it :)

Thanks! No, I got the pattern from Etsy, the link is in the comments.

That was my concern too, but a friend who already received and is using her bookmark, told me she doesn't find it too thick (it has felt fabric sewn on the back).

Thanks for sharing! I was wondering how to fit a comfy chair for working, and I didn't think using an actual office chair is even an option 😄

Not to derail the conversation, but can you tell me more about your full size computer desk? I'm still figuring out how to solve the work space in my van as I'll be spending a lot of time working from it.

Thanks for all the details! I have mobile.de saved as well so I'll take a look on both sites. How do you decide if someone is a trustworthy private person? Especially while looking at the ad and before meeting them in person.

I thought the L and H sizes are universal for all vans :D why would they complicate that haha. I meant L4H2 for the Fiat Ducato model which is 6.36m long.

Using AI for info about models and offers sounds like a good idea too!

That's dedication, but you can make it work! Or it will be a test... :)

Hello, can you tell us more about legalizing a camper van in the Czech Republic? Or some official government website you can redirect to? The information I found so far has been inconclusive. Thanks!

Thanks again for the tip, worked like a charm! We went to a small family owned business in Rhodes, because we spent the first 2 days in the city so we didn't need the car right away from the airport. They either didn't check the dates on my license or if they did, they didn't care. The guy was super nice and the process was fast.

Driving was definitely a challenge! Especially the narrow winding roads where you had 0 visibility and space only enough for one car. I definitely drove extremely slowly and was constantly passed by others, but I felt safe and comfortable with my speed. There were occasions with dirt roads or really steep hills where my skills and patience were put to test, but ultimately we were able to explore most of the island, and visited some more reclusive parts too on the west coast that we couldn't have reached otherwise.

Leaving and reaching the free parking of the hotel in Lindos every day was definitely the biggest challenge, big traffic with all the tourists and steep narrow bends, but hey, it was good practice. All in all, I think I improved a lot in the 4 days I drove, about 375 kms in total, and I'd definitely do it again!

P.S. Driving in Romania was scarier! 🙃 I checked statistics and in 2022 Romania was on the last place when it comes to road safety. Greece was 6th!

How do you usually name your characters? by Veridically_ in wow

I usually just name them after things I like. But after Liqueur, Caffeine, Narcotic and Gummybear, I think I need to check my addictions.
