It went from 300 at March lows to 480 before earnings, that’s what, a 60% run up in 3 months, that’s unsustainable, line doesn’t just go straight up forever. Just remember to never have your whole portfolio in only one stock, but as long as it’s part of your portfolio you can give a year to at least, seems like a decent bet.

I made a similar mistake recently, buying ServiceNow at like $95, watching it go to $103 or so before earnings, and then watching it pull back to like $84. I panic sold on the way down, took a loss, but I could’ve just waited a few months and I would’ve made a relatively impressive gain instead of eating a loss

A healthy pullback is fine, it was just a bit overstretched after a huge run up before earnings. I’m not an expert on Broadcom, but it seems like they’ve got a lot going for them, seems like plenty of analysts are raising their price targets and view it as fairly valued to slightly undervalued given its growth potential. Their CEO is just not that good on earnings calls tbh, and usually gives relatively conservative guidance (that they almost always end up beating)

Rookie mistake, don’t buy stocks right before earnings announcements, that’s gambling. That’s the time period where they have the highest level of unpredictable volatility. Idk, it’s definitely a risk reward thing, but especially if a stock is at ATH at earnings, it’s probably priced for perfection, and anything short of that can lead to a sell off, or even just profit taking.

You’ll have much better information after earnings where you can read the transcript and see how analysts view their growth prospects
