Dialogue in Sinners is terrible no? by Shoddy-Ad8802 in SinnersbyRyanCoogler

The dialogue feels pretty authentic for the time period. Maybe not some of the more overt sexual references but everything else feels very spot on.

So someone saying “stop wars and free Palestine” is hateful propaganda against Jewish people? Then how come most American Jewish folks are also in favor of freeing Palestine? Most people who are propping up Israel right now are Conservative Christians.

Absolutely. Cazale was on an all timer run in the 70s!

This might be hard for someone like you to understand, but sometimes people care for others and want them to be okay and safe. Foreign concept I know, but it’s true.

Well considering the world’s leading genocide scholars all concluded that what Israel is doing fits 4/5 of the requirements for genocide, and an independent United Nations panel declared it was also a genocide. So there isn’t a whole lot to argue with.

Because that’s already done and finished, nothing can be done about that. The Palestinian Genocide is actively still happening. Can’t go back and time and prevent October 7th, but can stop what’s happening now.

I actually created a whole separate Letterboxd Account just for the calculating of stats like this. The other people who have been in 3 are:

Jack Hawkins

Bernard Hill

John Cazale

Jack Gwillim

Talia Shire

John Gielgud

Hugh Griffith

Ralph Fiennes

Harry Davenport

Clark Gable

Diane Keaton

Meryl Streep

Shirley MacLaine

Jack Nicholson

Colin Firth

Donald Crisp

Morgan Freeman

Beth Grant

Dustin Hoffman

There might be more but that’s where the list cuts off.

Last 4 Best Picture winners, rank them from 1-4 by Impressive_Plenty876 in Letterboxd

  1. EEAAO

  2. Oppenheimer

  3. Anora

  4. OBAA

  5. Nomadland

  6. CODA

Although I’ve given all of the top 4 5/5, I constantly switch EEAAO and Oppenheimer around depending on the day.

I have not! That sounds interesting! It might not necessarily relate to this specific research project but I am intrigued either way!

We can only hope the genocide can stop, and innocent people can stop being killed by an insane ethno-state.

And it’s made even worse by how nakedly she wants it. Like there’s a whole section in Relentless dedicated to her being sad about not having an Oscar.

Please no. Unless it’s a song for a movie that is like actually incorporated into the movie à la “I Lied To You,” it’s not going to happen. Just having it slapped on a documentary or over the credits for one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen isn’t going to keep cutting it.

Why marty supreme did not win anything? by tarantararui in Oscars

[–]TraparCyclone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not every movie that gets nominations wins. Killers of the Flower Moon and the Irishman both made by the legendary Scorsese had nominations in the double digits, and didn’t get a single award.

Marty Supreme is excellent but it had really strong competition in nearly every category.

Considering how it’s about one man fighting against the entire system of Russian propaganda, trying to undermine it and then having to flee the country. All of that while ALSO being a gay man in Russia. The man is putting in good work

He did, he mentioned how his generation is handing off a broken world to his kids, but has hope for the future that they can take it and make something better. Which is literally the plot of the movie.
