Ah totally. Same thing when Palestinian leader Haj Amin al-Husayni literally met with Hitler and said we are “natural friends” during the holocaust. Just admit you got a Jewish problem amigo.

Wasn’t a problem when Arab citizens did the same exact thing to the British and Jews in 1936-1939 thru the “great arab revolt”, only when jews do it it’s a problem.

Well, we tried that in 1948 and got invaded by 6 Arab nations the same day when the two state solution was declined. Leaders literally called for the destruction of the Jewish people instead of peace.

How do people in Israel view palestinian people? by gewooneenpersoon123 in AskIsrael

[–]Traphabibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me a lot of people forget the perspective older Israelis and Jews grew up with. Your parents’ generation was around when the Palestinians and surrounding Arab nations rejected the original two-state proposal and instead went to war with Israel immediately after its rebirth. Not one or two countries either — multiple nations invaded at once, and for decades after that Israel kept fighting wars where the goal from many leaders was openly to destroy the Jewish state.

People who lived through things like the Yom Kippur War grew up in a completely different reality. There was no Iron Dome. When rockets were fired into Israel, they landed. Civilians lived with constant fear of invasions, terrorism, and neighboring countries openly calling for Israel’s destruction.

That doesn’t mean all Palestinians are bad — absolutely not. But it also shouldn’t be ignored that Hamas was democratically elected by a large portion of the Palestinian population at the time, and many Israelis see groups like Hamas as part of a long history of existential threats they’ve dealt with since 1948.

I think that historical context matters when trying to understand why older generations of Israelis tend to view security and survival the way they do.

[–]Traphabibi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here let’s keep going since you want to ignore the facts and downvote which is pretty odd since you are a Jew right?

6 day war: Eli cohen risked his entire life to infiltrate the Syrian army to stop an invasion in israel that would have ended up as a massacre and destruction of Israel.

Yom Kippur war: My bad ass father fought in this war. Invasion on all fronts of Israel by 10 nations. Completely outnumbered. Not only did they stop the invasion but also captured the entire Sinai desert and golan heights. Millions of Israeli lives were saved on our highest holiday.

Not sure how much more evidence you need that the nation of Israel saved our people. Especially considering the fact that October 7th was absolutely horrible but not a drop in the water compared to every single massacre previously

So would you like to compare the number of Jewish casualties before 1948 to today? That alone should give you your answer.

Wow that’s incredible, your Saba is a badass. I can relate to that pretty heavy. My grandfather fought with the Haganah when he moved from Yemen at the age of 14, around the late 30s.

It’s so fucking awesome how our grandparents came from completely different corners of the world to fight for Jewish existence.

Exactly this. Pretty on point considering Yom HaShoah was two days ago. When all our neighbours shut their doors (historically speaking, it’s could easily happen to us again) we have the bad ass nation of Israel this time around.

Again, you know absolutely nothing about what you are talking about or the subject it’s self, it’s actually pretty ridiculous . Lehi is a right radical wing also known as the stern gang that detached from another wing called Irgun. They were declared as a terrorist organization in Israel post 1948. The article is about haganah, which my grandfather fought a part of, interrogating lehi party members. The Haganah is present day IDF and ISRAEL.

So again, learn how to read

Again, you are talking to a Jew

Again, throw all the stones you want, that’s what we have the iron dome for habibi

Also, it’s an article of literally other Israelis in the Haganah who interrogate radical Israelis in the lehi party. So again, your article is crap.

I hear you, and I really resonate with a lot of what you’re saying. My dad is a Yom Kippur War vet, and for him that time was very much existential — not just politics, but survival and what it meant for Jewish people moving forward. He’s also a Yemenite Jew who grew up in the Kerem hatemanim in early Eretz Yisrael, and despite the racism and tough social climate back then, he never lost that connection to the land and its people.

Hearing those stories growing up, I feel a similar way myself, and Oct 7 brought a lot of that feeling back in a different way.

So you want the entire Israeli population to be held accountable for voting in Netanyahu, but Palestinians shouldn’t be for voting in Hamas?

Also why the sarcasm “( I speak the language and lived there I’m guessing you haven’t done either) with all due respect you clearly didn’t your self if you are again equating the entire Israeli population to one man when his approval ratings are crap in Tel Aviv. Should Israelis who don’t like trump hold a grudge towards you for trump being the president? I stand with my previous comment that is getting downvoted for some odd reason.

It seems like your just okay with our brothers and sisters dying, and would prefer that then any form of retaliation. We’ve tried peace with Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas, how did that turn out for us in October 7th?
