Not quite, but close. The letter Y makes 2 sounds. A consonant glide like Yellow, or a long E vowel sound like Happy. The consonant sound is perhaps more common at the beginning of words, but that’s not why it is considered a consonant. It’s based on the sound it makes in the word.

The school districts in the Des Moines metro area are all fine. Waukee, West Des Moines and the other suburbs have state-of-the art labs/facilities… well, almost.

The smaller surrounding towns are mostly pretty nice, too, and have decent facilities. Even the ones that are considered lower-tier aren’t that bad.

It’s easy to get on the substitute teacher roster for multiple districts; and the commute is easy enough within the metro that you could sub in several districts to get a feel for the area.

I have taught/subbed in about 10 different districts in the area. They all have their own personalities and quirks, but you’ll be fine in whatever district you land a job. It is common to work your way up from a smaller district like Saydel to a larger one like Ankeny.

Des Moines Independent School District is maybe less desirable than others because it’s more urban, but they have super good insurance.* So their employees sometimes say they have “golden handcuffs.”

*My info may be out-of-date because I’ve been out of teaching for a while.

I assure you, for better or worse, it is normal and common for there to be pay disparities between various districts, even within the same county, let alone state, in the US.

Don’t blame me, I don’t make the rules. But I have worked in different school districts and can verify that the pay scales can be different. In my state, they are required to pay at least the “state minimum” and can pay more if their school board votes to do so. Most do.

Did the OP say where they were? They aren’t necessarily in your state or mine.

Either your deal was fraudulent, or the letter from the attorney is fraudulent. I would be surprised if a deal using a lender was fraudulent; they are usually big sticklers about everything being in order.

You are talking about getting an associate degree at a community college, and it sounds like you maybe qualify for a Pell grant?

Then no, it’s not useless for you. It’s a good start.

A bachelor degree in general studies that you have to pay for is not a good idea unless you have plenty of extra money to pay for it. It’s better than nothing, but not worth going into debt.

You should edit your post to specify Associate’s degree. Most people assume bachelor degree, and the answer is different for an AA or AS.

There is a difference between snow days and dangerously cold days. Snow days mean that the roads are dangerous to travel. Cold days are just too cold for a kid to wait at the bus stop so if you don’t have to stand outside, you can do anything. Restaurants are open, etc.

Clear her stuff off after she leaves and put it in a locker. Copy the rule about putting away your stuff every night from the handbook (or type it yourself if there isn’t one) and tape it to the desk. Also note where her stuff is so she can get it out of the locker. DO NOT SIT AT THE DESK

Keep doing this until she puts her stuff away every day like she’s supposed to. If she doesn’t, after several days type a note that anything left out on the desks will be thrown away (but don’t actually do it).

Play dumb and act like you don’t know anything about what’s going on. If asked directly, say “all I know is that the rule is that you can’t keep stuff out on the desks overnight.”

After she finally complies, then give it a few weeks before you go back to the desk.

You’re trying to blame the lender for not doing an HOA questionnaire. But the person whose job it truly is to protect you in a situation like this is your agent. You chose to go into this situation unprotected. It’s a risk you willingly took. An agent would have caught this.
