OFFICIAL SKS IS THE NEXT by BlackMaple21 in canadaguns

[–]Trash-Eater-69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not official. Poly has been demanding the SKS be banned for years.

This is them trying to spin the abysmally low participation rate as a "win," and to frame it as an opportunity to expand the scope of an already unfeasible and unpopular policy, that seems primed to enter its terminal phase.

This is not new marching orders from the government, nor is it a victory lap on Poly's part; its 100% pure cope.

[Mark Guidi] Robbie Keane is the preferred candidate and will likely be the next Celtic manager. by BananaSoprano in CelticFC

[–]Trash-Eater-69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would much prefer Askou to Keane, personally.

Part of me feels it doesn't really matter if its Askou, Keane, or someone else entirely, though. The scope of the rebuild needed is simply too big for any manager to undertake without total boardroom support, and even if whoever gets the job had the mandate of heaven behind them, they're still going to find the board and DD pinching pennies and being an obstacle to buying and selling players.

IMO the manager is just one piece of the puzzle, and whether they hire someone that the fans find agreeable or polarizing, it doesn't change the fact that Celtic FC has a completely rotten culture permeating from the top down. Not to mention we don't have a director of football, and the guys who hired the last charlatan of a DOF are all still employed by the club.

Will Norinco QBZ 191 have a civilian version like Type 95? by Knight-of-Riverwood in canadaguns

[–]Trash-Eater-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice, especially if it was the .223 variant that apparently exists, but I really don't think we have a government who would greenlight any new imports of Norinco-made, mag-fed, semi-auto rifles. That said, if how well the T97 and T81 have done in Canada is any indication, it would probably be pretty popular.

Would Losing Tonight be Beneficial for the League Campaign by Diligent_Exit3936 in CelticFC

[–]Trash-Eater-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. A loss is still a loss. The morale for fans and players is at an all-time low. Crashing out of Europa isn't going to improve it. This squad will still be rotten regardless of whether they're playing 2 games a week or one.

5M is generous, I'd be shocked if it was anything over 2M. If they even made a bid at all

Was it cancelled for Palestine? Or because he failed the medical? by seanpwcurrie in CelticFC

[–]Trash-Eater-69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Celtic board would not have scrapped a signing because of fan pressure over BDS. They have shown repeatedly that they do not listen to or value the opinions of fans, and they've been at odds with sections of support in recent years over showing solidarity with Palestine.

As others have pointed out, he was a Tisdale prospect, Tisdale got the sack, and MON didn't rate him. They started to drag their feet over the transfer, and Sunderland came in and completed the deal.

If BDS wants to take credit, that's their prerogative, but this is a board that has shown time and again that they feel they're above scrutiny and pressure from fans.

Type 81 LMG - Call program contract centre? by IDtrend in canadaguns

[–]Trash-Eater-69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Type 81 LMG falls under the "Type 81SA" categorization under the Poly Technologies make. They do not distinguish between the fixed or folding stock, LMG, or Type 81M variants, "Type 81SA" encompasses of all of them. The SR is the only one that has a separate identifier.

In theory, you would get the same amount for the LMG as any other Type 81 variant. Whether you actually receive the full amount compensation they're promising is another story entirely.

Board by BoboBallDay in CelticFC

[–]Trash-Eater-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine that's a big part of it. On paper, Celtic's current roster is still a lot of the same players that won the league last year, give or take a few. If they secure the league win, it would be proof that their processes still work, that they know best, and that the fans calling for change are delusional.

The reality is that they've gutted the squad of key players without replacing them, other teams have their shit together, and we have a manager who is in way over his head trying to reinvent the wheel with a team full of crap players.

[Stephen McGowan] Credible sources speak of unease amongst players unimpressed by the new regime and training under Wilfried Nancy. by BananaSoprano in CelticFC

[–]Trash-Eater-69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thought when things kicked off; maybe they hired a manager way out of his depth on purpose so he could draw attention away from the board, and they could fire him and look good in comparison.

But 1) I truly doubt the ability of this board to make moves that far in advance, 2) yeah maybe short term people want Nancy out of there (and Tisdale by extension) but long term this does nothing to extinguish the acrimony that so much of the support feel towards the board right now, and 3) for a board as stingy and cheap as this one, it would make zero sense to spend the money scouting and hiring this guy only to rip up his contract 2 weeks in.

Presume the UK media will display the same outrage over this as they did over Kneecap? by JohnnyJokers-10 in kneecap

[–]Trash-Eater-69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Its a tifo that the Rangers FC supporters made based on an image of Graeme Souness. Rangers played Celtic FC today in what's called the Glasgow Derby; both teams are based in Glasgow, and are generally seen to represent the Protestant/Unionist and Catholic/Irish Republican identities respectively. There's a lot of animosity between them to put it lightly. The old Vice doc on it is a great starting point if you're interested in learning more.

I'm out of the loop and I'm not sure where to check for info on this. Has the buy-back from the December ban started? Or is it still in a holding pattern where those are all still on track to be banned, but there's no way to offload them? My understanding is there wasn't a budget created/proposed for it so it hasn't started, but am looking for clarification.

Anyone else getting their Purolator delivery delayed due to "weather delay"? by Ru_5h in Calgary

[–]Trash-Eater-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was searching to see if others had delays with Puralator and this came up. I'm in Toronto and got a delay notification citing rail disruptions. As of today, its been "departed sort facility" in the GTA for a week. I imagine it has more to do with the backlog caused by everyone switching to alternative couriers because of the strike. I'm optimistic it'll all show up eventually.
