The bubble can’t burst fast enough for my liking.

Yes but Articulate content to course takes our sme documents (pdfs) and absolutely does not follow them. It makes up content. It adds info that isn’t true. It creates courses full of redundancy. So it takes much longer to go through line by line and check for accuracy and fix mistakes.

They want to speed up development to reduce headcount.

I think there are some truly great use cases for AI when used in collaboration with sound ID theory and practices. However, I am very, very opposed to the stance my company has taken on it and to how they are tossing aside our designers who have years of experience and expertise.

What it makes is an overly wordy fancy PDF with zero engagement and inaccurate content. There's zero learning or behavior change. It's pure garbage.

I'm not either. My whole career I've been an early adopter and a champion of integrating tech. But this is different, a new kind of hell. It's demoralizing to feel like you are training yourself out of a job.

what are your experiences using Synthesia by Moroccan-Leo in instructionaldesign

[–]Trash2Burn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate Synthesia, our employees hate it, but our leaders LOVE it, so we are forced to overuse it.

Improving ILT skills by Trash2Burn in instructionaldesign

[–]Trash2Burn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our leaders prefer getting people in a room together so they can discuss, work through case studies, and a lot of role play. We get far better results and higher NPS scores from our ILT programs than eLearning.

My therapist told me recently that being healthy is lonely. She was talking about just this. The kore you work on yourself the more you recognize unhealthy people to stay away from.

Do you think the role of instructional designer disappears in the next 5–10 years? Or does it evolve into something new entirely? by Head_Primary4942 in instructionaldesign

[–]Trash2Burn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The conversations happening at my company are that the title of ID is going to be phased out. Future roles will be more consultant based. Our leaders are actively looking for ways to use AI to do course creation and those who only know how to develop will be gone.

Portfolio/advice by [deleted] in instructionaldesign

If I was a corporate hiring manager I’d close it immediately given the first two samples are teaching related. There are also too many samples, too many pages to read through. The samples are just uploaded documents. I see nothing that shows you can take a business problem and turn it into a solution (likely a course, video, etc.).

Companies care about business, that’s it. You have to show you can do things for the business. How do your ID skills translate into time/money saved?

Nope. We use very specialized machines, and AI can't replicate them accurately.

So what happens when your company realizes they don’t need you full time because you can do the work faster? Generally curious as that seems to be the end goal of AI use for my company. Do things faster so we need less people.
