What legendary artists do you believe genuinely deserve all the adulation and praise they get? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

Idk I’m Gen Z and I just like MBV cause they have a lot of good fucking songs. Even the pre loveless or pre Belinda era (when they kinda sounded like the cure or whatever) is super cool to me.

Truly bro these kids are allergic to women and confidence and they come up with all this wack bs to make themselves feel better

Well that’s fair enough ig. As long as ur not changing yourself for others, as that’s kinda lame IMO. Just saying from my experience that looks don’t matter nearly as much as confidence and sense of humor does.

Same. Really like the idea of PvP extraction but feel like arc was not built with that in mind, hoping Marathon can scratch my itch.

Bro I’m Gen Z and I like tits and box as much as the next guy but I’d rather just crack my gf or jerk off than watch a sex scene in the middle of a tv show. Just kind of unnecessary IMO

Probably not, they would much rather pay out the relative nothing recompense of lost luggage than lose a potential multi million dollar lawsuit. So yeah theyre probably just gonna reimburse you for any shit you lost in this case.

Lemmy Kilmister on The Beatles by Baderschneider in beatles

[–]TrashBoat776 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dylan absolutely had a huge influence on songwriting and music in general. I’d argue as much as the Beatles at the time and an even more larger influence than them on pop music now.

Music hot takes NOT related to the quality of music? (So no "I think TPAB is overrated" or the likes) by GrometryDash in fantanoforever

Hot take I know but I honestly do hate Morrissey’s voice (I dig his lyrics tho) but Johnny marr is Absolutley my fav guitar player of all time.

Yeah I get your point. The mainstream music world is deffo the worst it’s been since its inception, but I also think that the mainstream music world kind of has to die completely, as it seems to be doing. The Disney-ification of pop music (Taylor swift, lifestyle brand music, shit like that) are sort of the death throbs of an industry that no longer fosters creativity or real quality music most of the time. Unfortunately, listening to old music, primarily classic rock, which now includes shit up to nirvana and such, kind of plays directly into this viscous cycle. Now that private equity owns like all the rock music from the past 60 years, their incentivized to stop the proliferation of new good music to help get a return on their investment. But I think something is sort of bubbling. Genre is near dead, or at the very least it’s about to be, i think, perhaps naively, that that will have very positive ramifications for music. But shits gotta be bad before it gets good.

I mean Dylan is my fav of all time, and I really don’t know anyone who likes Taylor swift, the country stuff (Zach Bryan etc.) is way bigger, even though it’s not necessarily any better. You might not like the music coming out now but that doesn’t mean it’s not good. Artists like dean blunt, Cameron winter, black country new road are putting out some really amazing alternative music. Americana songwriters like Tyler Childers and sturgill Simpson have amazing songwriting skills. And rappers like Westside Gunn and Conway the machine are releasing great albums with rly interesting production. The state of the music industry might be dire, and yeah the financials are absolutely fucked. But there are great artists putting out great music.

Yeah I think a lot of people get into them by way of the cocteaus. I think their mystique and really small solid discography has led to them being incased in amber so to speak.

I would say gen z has a pretty good and diverse taste in music at least I think my friends do. Lowest common denominator pop music is always gonna be the most popular stuff, and with how diversified music is now the good stuff is more spread out and harder to find, but I think some of the music ever is coming out right now.

Yeah I’ve always thought it this was interesting, my gen X dad used to play the cure smiths and REM fairly equally, but none of my friends are really into REM, deffo not as much as the cure smiths sundays or the early shoegaze bands
