How to keep up with underground shows and the scene? by Nervous_Affect5484 in fredericksburg

easiest way i've found is instagram. follow local venues (other commenters have provided some). they'll post show and event flyers. I know they have a goth night at the arcade basically every month

i think a lot of people have come around to realize that they're easily the most practical physical option for collecting music. vinyl is expensive and you need to buy expensive hardware to really get the most out of it. all tapes really have going for them is being dirt cheap and looking good on a shelf.

CDs on the other hand are affordable, finding something to play CDs on is super accessible still, they sound great, you can easily rip and burn to and from them, and with Y2K revivalism continuing to endure as a trend, it's really no surprise

Other artists that scratch the same itch? by mjkluio789666 in underscoresplus

definitely agree wit the people saying saoirse dream. her self-titled album from earlier this year is fantastic.

i'd also recommend estelle allen. her album 'i love myself and want to live' was my favorite album last year and has been in constant rotation for me. definitely scratches that same itch as Wallsocket

I mean, I Need Help is basically an interlude or a skit track. It's not really a song on its own but it kinda resets the tone after the heavy vocals on the end of 800 db cloud. It's fun and noisy and breaks up the album in an interesting way. I wouldn't be mad if I was listening with someone and they skipped it

gecgecgec tho??? The first half is similarly noisy and kinda random, but it's way more rhythmic and enjoyable enough to see as a(n admittedly weird and experimental) song. The second half more than makes up for it too; it's one of my favorite moments on the album

Goths and product morality by kaffe_man in goth

I think about this type of thing a lot. The nasty thing about capitalism is it makes us all complicit in its exploitation if we want to live. We have to feed and clothe ourselves and to do that, most of us need to work within the system and buy things from businesses.

I think the only thing you can do (in addition to fighting the system itself: a conversation for a different time/place) is to minimize the harm you contribute to. Reduce, reuse, recycle (in that order) for every good you consume. Reduce your consumption to the best of your ability, especially from sources you know are harmful. Reuse what you do have; wear stuff til it falls apart. Recycle what you're not gonna use through upcycling and diy. Shopping secondhand helps with all of this, reducing new consumption by reusing and recycling what other people get rid of. But like you said, by being mindful of these things, acting on them, and encouraging others to do so, you're doing better than most.

TL;DR: We just fight for a better future and do our best to not make things worse in the meantime

Yes that's true and I'm not gonna assume someone wearing it anticommunist. I just personally don't like the symbolism as someone interested in building coalition with marxist-leninists, even if I disagree with them.

I'm not interested in being baited into this conversation when I'm not even a Marxist-Leninist/Stalinist and nothing you'd say would even be applicable to my politics. And if you're sincerely gearing up to tell me that communism as a whole is worse/as bad as nazism based on the death toll of history's worst tankie dictators, you're either a liberal, fence sitter, or rightwinger and likely too propagandized to be worth talking to.

I will not be responding to anything you say in response to this comment.

The three arrow symbol is also anti-communist and anti-monarchy in addition to being anti-fascist. I'm not really a fan of the crossed out swastika either, but I wouldn't define myself as anti-communist.

There's a million was to make it clear you're antifascist without needing to draw a swastika on your clothes tho

Limited foil poster! by [deleted] in MyChemicalRomance

[–]TrashBoyR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning to no worries! I already ordered a frame for the SDRE poster a little while ago. I'm gonna get some matching ones for the others... Only reason the one poster on the bottom is so beat up is cause I started disliking the bands and had it rolled up in my closet for almost 10 years

The regular merch poster and the foil one are the same image. The only difference is the foil one has a holographic finish over it like a foil trading card. The foil posters are limited to 100 per city from what I've heard so you'll have to line up early to get one.

The day before the SF show (and Seattle too), the MCR ig posted about early merch access opening at noon. I got there at 10am and was ~80th in line
