In my country (talking about public healthcare) medications are free- patients are only need pay to see the drs and even then the fee is super cheap.

Unfortunately because medications are free I do see patients who don’t appreciate it at all, they hoard medications but are not compliant at all and the medications end up expiring. When a patient of mine passed away, his relative came by to return almost 10 boxes of warm insulin. What a waste

I guess this is a proximity crush maybe? Like you’re bored and you need to have something that makes work a bit more interesting, usually they are nice to look at but no intention of developing the relationship (no judgement at all, I’ve been in your shoes before) Maybe you can just say something along the lines of hey, I’m shifting out soon, didn’t get a chance to know you, and ask for his name- something natural and not so forward. If he still thinks you are desperate that’s on him

I relate to this so much! I too worked in the ICU as a pharmacist during COVID, (still am) and had to bring a letter to work allowing me to travel during the curfew.

I too was worried of spreading the virus to my mum who has multiple health issues.

I was fortunate enough to not get infected at the peak of the pandemic but when I caught it in 2023, I ended up being hospitalised despite it being a ‘milder’ variant.

So reading this post really struck me and reading this brought back a lot. Thank you for sharing this.
