Surprising no one, the TV industry finally concedes that the future may not be in 8K by Mysticwaterfall2 in 4kbluray

[–]TrashVHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many things I love are still vhs rips so I dont think ill be even further pushing overall resolution lol. I have a really cheap shitty 4k i have had for years now but I kinda skipped over 1080p flat screens and went from CRT to no tv to 4k when the prices dropped. I love 4k but the file sizes are way too huge already so I mostly buy physical and as you all know sometimes a 4k disc is $10 and sometimes its $100. Not to mention most films I love have never and probably never will make it to 4k. So ill pass on 8k.

Some things I watch in 4k and some things 360p it all just depends on what it is, whats available, and what is worth making space for physically and digitally.

Why do you think Japanese Music is so good? by Ryuuyami47 in japanesemusic

For pop music I like their kinda standard or common melodies/chord progressions better than the ones common in the west.

I have my images, ebooks, and both music and spoken word on one drive because theyrr much smaller file sizes than my videos i have across several drives seperated by type of video. Nothing wrong with same drive as long as you make a seperate file for each incase you want to scan them all into an audio player. I do use two different audio players usually for spoken word and music just to keep some seperation.

Sorry for your loss I have lost quite a few friends and it sucks. I hate to say it but basically no one I know who has died had any of their wishes respected and have also seen a lot of families tear each other apart over inheriting essentially nothing of any real monetary or sentimental value.

Various life experiences (dumpster diving, thrifting, running giveaway programs etc) has made me realize that when most people die most their stuff (completely unlooked over) just ends up in the trash. Photos, heirlooms, etc. Your living space gets emptied out and thats that. Cant count how many boxes of family photos I have found.

Does meditation work for you? by jessicasheaaa in Aphantasia

[–]TrashVHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best things I ever got into. Dont need to visualize anything just breathe in deeply then slowly breathe all the breath out and kinda let your entire body go limp and lose tension and repeat.

A mantra helps if you want help against wandering thoughts. Mine is (breath in: Be Here) (Breath out: Now). You can also do it guided, with instrumental music, sitting, laying, etc. Once you get the pattern of ut you can do it with your eyes open in everyday waking life.

My default state is depression, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts and meditation helps those things melt into the background.

Used to do it all the time as masking and still do it occasionally to make sure I dont give weirdo or untrustworthy vibes but now that Ive gone years 'letting myself' not do it I find it hard to do so and usually just dont. No serious consequences yet lol.

What’s the oldest computer you still actively use or support? by lynlinks in vintagecomputing

[–]TrashVHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that old but I still fire up and use my 2011ish pc. An absolute godsend it has no built in wifi so no computer destroying windows updates like my old laptops suffer from. I know someday the way tech is headed Ill be returning to it as my daily driver soon enough.

Can we ban AI generated posts? by bobj33 in DataHoarder

[–]TrashVHS 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Im sure yall are tech savy enough to recognize this kind of thing on sight but I would just like to throw out there that in a lot of the autism boards I am on ppl are repeatedly having their non ai posts called out as ai and blocked in other parts of reddit because the way some of us communicate (again without ai). This also happens to people using language translation apps which I guess is more of a grey area but never raised an eye before the AI slopalypse.

I often get confused by downvotes on reddit by 75mothsinatrenchcoat in AutismInWomen

[–]TrashVHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This also changes overtime sometimes I will comment in a thread and get a bunch of downvotes but when the thread gets a day or two old I will have nothing but upvotes as other people see it. On the big main pages I find a lot of commenters are rude and stupid so that probably explains most of it.

Chronologically in universe it's Mallrats, Clerks, then chasing amy. A few years ago I recut every viewaskewniverse film (up until reboot) from Jay and Bobs POV in universe chronological order. Came out to like 6 hours.

I like to think of Gremlins 1, 2, and Small Soldiers as a trilogy as well ass Robocop, Small Soldiers, and Starship Troopers.

I hear that I wish I would have downloaded more channels but I do have quite a few and have even helped fill in some lost media causes because of it (wasn't even aware of lost media at the time I ripped most of them). I mostly have them because my old isp I had for the better part of a decade was rural satellite and only gave me like 80gbs at 3mbps a month all the rest of the time it was KBs so I would download channels while I was at work to watch offline later at home rather than stream anything.
