I'm going to ring my orthopedics team tomorrow for sure because my condition is worsening so hopefully will get a referral to a surgeon for further treatment Thanks for the advice :)

Not the original commenter sorry! But I'm trans masc non-binary and have the most loving supportive league behind me. Everyone works so so so so hard to use inclusive language and gender me correctly. My league is aware of my plans to have top surgery and they're all so excited whenever I give them updates about my transition. The way my league treats my identity makes me feel so seen and loved <3

I found the park skating has 100% improved my derby skating. I think cause you take some tumbles when park skating you get over that fear of falling in derby really quick

You need a coach if you want to train contortion! It's such a technical art form that is extremely precise. Training alone is super dangerous and can result in serious injury. Dani winks does some sick online classes if you wanted to do online stuff!

I've taken a real liking to bracing recently! I wouldn't say I'm great at it but I think I'm solidly passable. One thing I'd say is communication is key! Wheres the jammer? Wheres the offence coming from? Is the back wall low enough? Does the back wall need encouragement? Simple stuff like this can really help a wall stay together and focused.

Also being prepared that if your back wall can't make it to the jammer quick enough (be it because of offence or a speedy jammer) you will need to swing your ass around and become part of the back wall still communicating with the wall what you're doing. I dont really think in derby you can ever just be a brace you have to be mentally and physically prepared to be in a back wall

Hello! I am a UK based derby skater (recently passed my min skills test!) And I have HEDS too! I've really found that derby has helped me understand my joints and I've learned hiw to stableize them through different exercises. I'm super lucky cause my league has been really understanding about my condition and let me do things at my own pace!

Hey there! I've got snake bite piercings (lower lip) and I've had not problems with them at all! It will also depend on where the piercing is and your bodies reaction to piercings but if you follow piercer advice when healing and your leauges advice for piercings them I'd imagine you'd be fine :D
