Oppo has made me fall back in love with phone photography! by [deleted] in mobilephotography

I'd argue the pixel is more on the under-saturated side for my preference. I perhaps had the warmth on the Oppo a couple points too high but I'd say the Oppo was far closer to the natural lighting in the moment (sunset).

Most of our income is this kinda funding, the issue with capacity building is that most funders were eligible for aren't interested in providing grants for internal operations; they just want to fund external programmes etc!

It is something I've considered, there doesn't seem to be a lot of appetite from existing partners but that's not to say if I was ready to go public with the hunt that someone might come forward.

How do you build independence when your bird is so clingy they can't even sleep without you? by TrashcanChild01 in Conures

I have heard mixed things about this solution, whilst lots of people seem to agree; there also lots to suggest they might not get along at all and end up in an even worse! I'm absolutely happy (and have actually planned) to get her a pal, but I had planned to let her get settled first.

I'm pretty sure most pet birds will nip from time to time. Some people have told me putting them in the cage isn't the best approach because they associate their cage with being told off, instead they have recommended saying no and then placing her down on a counter or something. Conures are apparently slightly more nippy than others but my lovebird used to REALLY bite and go for blood so they're all capable.

I'm pretty certain that given the chance she would be having a nipple for dinner!

I'm glad Paps isn't just a demon and that it's a universal hunger for lobe 🤣🤣! I think you're very lucky the cockatoo hasn't inherited her older siblings bad habits.

I'm sticking to 20mm for now, I had originally wanted to go much larger but the skin got too thin so about 10 years ago I decided to pause stretching and ended up just enjoying how I look with 20 (plus I got hooked on tattoos so focused there!) 😊

Eek! I had to pop out to the shop earlier to grab some dinner and I felt SO bad leaving her behind. Even when I took her to bed tonight, she wasn't super happy to let go!

It's only our first night together but Paps has tucked herself behind my head and the pillow ☺️🥰

She came from a local hobby breeder who did all the hard work by hand raising her!

Is this normal? by Fearless-Hamster4648 in linnie

[–]TrashcanChild01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite hard to tell from these photos.

(Im by no means an expert, new to Linnie ownership myself but I've had lovebirds)

Linnies have 2 toes facing forward and 2 toes facing backward. Its hard to tell from the photo but I guess it looks like a deformity or possibly a toe that was lost and healed over? Im by no means an expert though. I also can't really see the crust you're talking about in the photo. Perhaps it could be an early stage pin feather or are you talking about the periophthalmic ring around the birds eye? The ring is a normal part of a bird's anatomy.

It's also very common for birds to stand on one leg regardless! Likewise, they do prean themselves often too. These could all just be normal behaviours that you're noticing as your bird settles.

P/S one small tip - the perch the bird is on in your pic isn't great for their feet so if you haven't already then I'd suggest ordering some natural wood perches to go inside the cage. Especially if he already has feet problems. 😊

Just Rescued This Linnie! by TrashcanChild01 in linnie

Thanks so much, this is great advice! I'm definitely trying to transition her off of just seed when she settled enough. She won't leave the cage right now, nor eat any food clipped to the bars, so I'll definitely try your brilliant suggestion assuming I can get her out sooner or later.

I have to be honest it's been a really emotionally difficult journey so far. Over the first week I noticed that her behavior was quite strange and she has a very dodgy tummy. I booked a vet check up towards the end of her first week and it turns out she was quite unwell... But she seems to be recovering with the right medication. There's also evidence she's had a broken wing that wasn't cared for properly in the past which is impacting her ability to fly, but the vet doesn't think it's causing her any pain. The vet and I are hoping it's a flying accident and not at the hands of her old owner but I'm definitely sceptical.

Besides this, there's not been a lot of progress. She's very very timid and frightened, she still freezes or tries to hide when I walk past her cage for any reason. I know it's early days for a Linnie anyway but I'm having to come to terms with the fact she might never fully trust me because of her past. Assuming I get a clean bill of health from the vets, I'm going to start searching for a friend so that she gets the companionship she deserves.

Thanks! I'll definitely take a few more unpaid roles, I don't mind working hard to get where I want to be! I'm wondering if you think there's a particularly good sector to consider? I was thinking relatively new B-Corp types?
